Kendall Bartsch has a distinguished 20 year career leading sales teams with top companies in the library information and biomedical industries, including CSA and ProQuest. Libraries and the people who work in them are Kendall’s passion and at Third Iron, his role includes financial management, business development, sales and marketing strategy. Kendall has a MA from University of Iowa and a BA from Drake University. John Seguin has over 15 years of experience in the library industry, first as an academic librarian at the Missouri University of Science & Technology where we he worked in Electronic Resources and helped to build the , the MS&T Institutional Repository. After this he moved to the private sector as an Account Executive for ProQuest, selling their products into academic institutions across the Midwest. John heads up the product management and development area of Third Iron and also is engaged in sales efforts for Third Iron. John has a Master of Library Science as well as Bachelor of Music from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Karl Becker leads iOS development and directs a distributed team of software developers. Mr Becker has an extensive background in software and iOS development that includes development of a number of successful iPhone and iPad applications. Karl is founder of KB Productions and has held Software Engineer positions at Rockwell Collins and Thomson West. Mr. Becker holds a BS in Computer Engineering from North Dakota State University. Dr. Sarah Seguin brings to Third Iron over 10 years of primary research and engineering management experience. She has worked as a researcher and faculty-in-resident at a number of notable institutions such as Apple Computer, the Naval Research Laboratory and Guidant Corporation. Immediately before joining Third Iron she was an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Kansas where she performed research in Electromagnetic Compatibility, Radar Systems and Antennas as well as taught classes in related areas. Dr. Seguin has authored numerous journal and conference papers, book chapters and holds two patents for her research. At Third Iron, she serves as technical product manager and lends her unique perspective as a researcher and user of scholarly information to the development of Third Iron products. Sarah earned her PhD as well as undergraduate and master’s degree from Missouri University of Science and Technology and is a Senior Member of IEEE. Jonathan Bunkell has worked in the academic and professional information industry for over 20 years in a number of areas including professional reference and text books, ebooks and researcher workflow tools. Jonathan has held global sales leadership positions with industry leading companies including Pearson, Elsevier and ProQuest. Jonathan’s role at Third Iron is to work with trusted sales partners and the international library community to develop sales of BrowZine outside North America. Jonathan has a BA from the University of Warwick in the UK. Jill Blaemers is an information industry veteran, with 25+ years of experience building electronic resources used to support teaching and learning in higher education. As Managing Editor of the CSA social sciences databases, Jill led the indexing and classification team for Sociological Abstracts, Social Services Abstracts, and Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, and was responsible for the development and maintenance of the thesauri used as the indexing authorities of these well-known databases. In more recent years, she held product management responsibility for the social science portfolio of CSA and also ProQuest. She is now working as an independent consultant. Jill holds a BA in Anthropology from San Diego State University and an MLIS from San Jose State University. She is working with Third Iron to develop and implement a classification system to organize journals for optimal browsing in BrowZine. Third Iron Advisory Board Third Iron: Advanced Library Technologies is a company dedicated to bringing next-generation technologies to libraries to enable enhanced access to resources. To this end, we have assembled an advisory board made up of technologists as well as library veterans. Matt Dunie has founded three information and content application services companies (Insight Publications, RefWorks, and LabArchives), held numerous executive-level management positions and association board positions. His professional experience includes senior positions at ProQuest, Atlantic Media, and Thomson in addition to several entrepreneurial ventures in the publishing and information sector. As President of CSA (now ProQuest) Mr. Dunie grew the business tenfold, managed the acquisition and integration of more than 15 companies, established regional offices domestic and abroad, and created numerous industry-leading products. He is currently President of Conquest Systems, Inc.
