Lakeland Concert Band, Inc., established in April 2001, is a nonprofit organization designated under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It was formed to provide musical entertainment within Lakeland and its surrounding communities through high-quality performances. The band transitioned from its former name following Charles Minelli's retirement when Ralph Landmeier and Vic Larsen initially led it, with Vic Larsen now serving as the sole conductor. The organization operates under the guidance of a Board of Directors, supported by contributions and grants that have enabled them to procure their own percussion instruments. Lakeland Concert Band regularly performs at prominent local venues such as Youkey Theatre in The Lakeland Center and Branscomb Auditorium at Florida Southern College. As an all-volunteer ensemble comprising musicians across various age groups, including professional musicians, music educators, retired military service band members, and individuals from diverse professions like business owners, school teachers, and medical professionals, the Band showcases a unique blend of talent. This collaborative spirit results in richly varied musical experiences for their audiences.
