Zebra Youth, Inc., previously known as Zebra Coalition, Inc. and Zebra Foundation for Youth, Inc., is a non-profit organization based in Orlando, Florida. Incorporated on January 7, 2010, its mission is to support and inspire LGBTQ+ youth (ages 13-24) through self-awareness programs, safe spaces, and empowerment initiatives. The organization facilitates discussions about identity, life achievements, and personal experiences within an accepting community environment filled with food, games, and camaraderie. Zebra Youth operates as a collaboration among 26 coalition partners including service groups, government agencies, social service providers, churches, corporations, and educational institutions. In 2016, Zebra Coalition provided services to 182 youth at their drop-in center and engaged in outreach, training, and curriculum initiatives impacting over 307 students from five high schools and numerous educators throughout Orange County. The organization emphasizes safe schooling environments by delivering LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency training to businesses, social service agencies, churches, and educational establishments. In April 2016, Zebra Coalition coordinated a GSA Meet-Up at the Youth Center, fostering dialogue on the needs of LGBTQ+ youth and launching its Student Ambassador Program. Zebra Youth features a Youth Council composed of Central Florida youth aged 13-24 who orchestrate activities promoting safe, healthy interactions among peers. Additionally, the Zebra Youth Ambassador Project ensures inclusive school climates for students irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity by integrating youth perspectives into organizational programs.
