YOGA JUNKIE STUDIO LLC, NICEVILLE

We are honored to have these talented and experienced teachers to lead you in your yoga practice: A E-RYT 200 and RYT 500, Kristy brings her infectious humor, love of Yoga and compassionate nature to each of her classes. After the birth of her daughter, she decided against re-entering the “rat race” and instead chose to spend her days teaching what she loves. Her classes are an uplifting blend incorporating movement, static postures, breathing techniques and meditation for stress reduction. Along with her regular classes, Kristy also teaches our specialty classes such as Adaptive Yoga in Chairs and Prenatal Yoga. Kristy opened Niceville's first yoga studio,The Barefoot Yoga Studio, in 2006 and is thrilled to have combined forces with Teri Harnett in 2014 to open the Yoga Junkie Studio!! Teri is an E-RYT 200 and RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance, Usui Reiki Master, and Registered Dietitian. She began practicing yoga when she was a group exercise instructor. She originally took classes to help build her core to teach spin and kickboxing and wasn’t interested in the ‘mental side of it.’ Today, she can’t practice without feeling the spiritual benefits. Teri believes each student comes to the mat for various reasons and their practice is an opportunity for them to receive what they need from it. You can often hear Teri refer to a yoga mat as a magic carpet and her classes encourage us to honor our individuality on and off the mat. Michelle Hill completed her 200 hour training with YogaWorks in Atlanta, Georgia and is a 200 E-RYT with Yoga Alliance. Michelle's classes are intelligently sequenced, making the practice unique, challenging and fun for each student, regardless of which level they are practicing. Michelle began practicing yoga over 15 years ago as a way to balance the effects of running on her body. From this foundation of interest, her daily yoga practice became so much more. Yoga is a haven to release, increase vitality and build confidence. Yoga is a vital part of her well-being, and she strives to assist her students to find new opening in the body and in the mind. Dawn Avent- E-RYT 200 and RYT 500. I walked into my first yoga class in 2004. I had no idea what to expect. It was hot, sweaty, and challenging. 90 minutes later I was in love. I fell hard and fast. I practiced almost every day for several years. I walked away from my mat for spells only to come back, more on fire. I knew that my mat was home and where I belonged. My practice and trainings have helped me to recognize who I really am without the labels. My practice gave me a way to heal from my past, taught me how to live in the present, and showed me the power of setting intentions for the future. I no longer live my life by default; I live my life by design. A recent graduate of our yoga teacher training program, Kristine is passionate, knowledgeable, and has magnetic energy. Her discovery of yoga started as a complimentary sport to her athletic pursuits. After her collegiate soccer journey came to a quick close, she struggled to find her identity post athlete. Through deep soul and spiritual searching, she forged her path in the wild through a deep appreciation of holistic medicine, crystals, energy healing, eastern philosophy, astrology, numerology, and all mystical modalities. Yoga complimented her natural interests and became a tool for deep soul healing. She delves in her yoga studies teaching the power of yoga in aligning your physical, emotional, mental, energetic, and spiritual bodies. Aside from practicing Kundalini, Kristine loves to teach slow flow yoga. Whether it is yin yoga or hot yoga, she enjoys teaching the power of slow conscious movement in yoga. Her classes not only focus on the physical postures, but always include pranayama (breathwork), meditation, and the space to connect with source, true Self, and the body. I first discovered a style of Hatha Yoga while working on my undergraduate degree in 1999 at Wheeling Jesuit University. I found the practice to provide physical benefits, relieve stress and I began to love the 5 to 10 minute meditations at the end of each class. It was during those meditations that I could find some calm and stillness in my mind and spirit. An enthusiasm was generated within me to share with others this journey of enlightenment. Therefore, in 2014, I earned a 200 Hour Level I teacher Training Certificate in a style of Yoga called The Barkan Method of Hot Yoga. Since then I have returned to earn two additional 80 Hour Level II and III certificates. As result I am able to guide classes at beginner and intermediate levels in that lineage. My hope is to share something I truly believe in. Jacquie tried yoga off and on over several years but got more serious about her practice when health issues including high blood pressure, weight control, and fibromyalgia were becoming huge challenges in her day to day living. Yoga has brought major improvements to her health and helps tremendously with her pain management. She wants to help others with similar issue and body types to understand that there is a yoga style for every body and the benefits that come with it. With the use of props and modifications, she wants to guide students in finding their personal practice that helps them to feel better about themselves and to love their own bodies. Jacquie is a mother of three and a grandmother of one and has lived in Niceville since 1989. She loves camping, hiking, and being in nature with her family, paddle boarding, soccer, trying new things, and, of course, yoga! Julee's completed her 200 YTT with Graham Fowler at Peachtree Yoga Atlanta, GA. It was then that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent surgery, chemo and radiation for the whole of 2014. Julee is also a Registered Dietitian, whose career has focused on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle. This led to her work with breast cancer survivors as an RD first, but also as a yoga instructor, refining and teaching a lifestyle adjustment class to help women reduce the odds of their cancer returning. An integral part of this four week course was yoga, meditation, and pranayama.
