yoga practice began in earnest after a 21+ year career as an officer in the U.S Army. Upon retirement in 2005, she sought a kinder method of staying healthy and fit. Jeannie discovered the YogaFit training program after landing in Georgia and became a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance in 2006. She taught yogic principles and the asanas (poses) at a local college in Tifton Ga and also taught yoga at the Tiftarea YMCA while serving as Fitness Director. Jeannie taught at the Kai Yoga Arts studio in Albany Ga as well as at Yoga on Pine. She worked full time as a management consultant for a defense contracting firm for several years after her Army career and found the way to keep a balanced work and home life was through her yoga practice. Yoga truly became a way of life before she happily found her way to Amelia Island. She’s taken several yoga related classes and training over the years – Most notably on the island, in addition to teaching Pod Yoga, she is a trained Stand up Paddleboard (SUP) Instructor with the American Canoe Association (ACA) and a specifically trained SUP Yoga Teacher. Jeannie’s taught SUP Yoga at Kayak Amelia and currently teaches with the Amelia Island Paddle Surf Company. Classes offered at Y Yoga intergrate the traditional Hatha Yoga styles in an eclectic blend for all ages, levels of fitness and practices for stress relief, weight loss, athletic conditioning, general wellness and health, rehabilitation and more.
