At Workday, we help companies across industries increase efficiency and reduce costs. But don’t just take our word for it.
In 2005, software visionaries Aneel Bhusri and Dave Duffield met at the Jax Truckee Diner outside of Lake Tahoe in California. They decided to form a start-up—one that would sell cloud-based applications for finance and HR. The two longtime friends had plenty of experience. Dave had founded PeopleSoft in 1987 and served as the company's CEO and chairman of the board. Aneel had held a number of leadership positions at PeopleSoft, including senior vice president of product strategy. On that day in 2005, they resolved to build a company that would revolutionize the enterprise software market. The result is Workday.
Workday announces the beta release of Workday Financial Management, an entirely new model for helping companies manage revenue, resources, and financial accounting.
Workday is named one of the Best Places to Work in the Bay Area, the first of many acknowledgements of its great company culture.
Our core values give us a framework for leadership and daily decisions, and help us enjoy our time at work. Sounds so simple, but too often companies get caught up in politics, ivory-tower attitudes, and market mania instead of focusing on the things that probably made them successful in the first place.
Most fundamentally, people are the core of our business. Without them, we would not have a business. We hire the best and expect great accomplishments.
We aim for innovation not only in our development organization but also in the way we approach all aspects of our business.
We also feel it’s important to have a sense of humor. We like to laugh—it makes our work that much more enjoyable. We also invest in community and company events that help our employees and their families feel a connection to Workday beyond business as usual.
Long-term economic success is what helps us provide employees and customers with the best productivity tools, solutions, and services. While important, profitability is not why we exist. Simply put, at Workday we exist to make and provide great products and services.

The Workday Foundation was established with a Workday stock grant in 2013 to make a difference in our communities and support Workday employees in their charitable investments of time and money. Our mission is to transform lives by creating career pathways that unleash human potential.
Since innovation is a cornerstone of Workday’s heritage and core values, it is a natural course that our Foundation also focuses on innovation. We look for organizations that are using innovative solutions to break the cycle of poverty by creating lasting economic security through meaningful employment. We are especially interested in partnering with organizations located near Workday offices globally, with opportunities for deep employee engagement.
Impact grants are the Workday Foundation’s primary tool for making a real difference and transformational impact. The Foundation invests in innovative organizations that prepare people of all ages for careers in tech. These grants involve significant dollars, potential multiyear commitments, deep employee involvement, and tight collaboration with grantees. We fund things such as coding camps for girls and technical training for veterans. While we’re eager to learn about new initiatives and innovative programs, we are not accepting unsolicited proposals at this time. If your organization is doing innovative programs in the area of workforce development, please send no more than one page describing your work to:
