Grace serves as one of Working with Government’s three founding partners.
In 2005, Grace started Working with Congress, a company that designs and conducts seminars to help people understand and effectively participate in the legislative and policy development process in Washington, DC. In 2009, she joined with two of her colleagues to expand the business and establish Working with Government, LLC.
Prior to establishing Working with Congress in 2005, Grace served as the Executive Director of The Faith & Politics Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides Members of Congress and congressional staff opportunities for reflection and dialogue focused on the intersection of their faith and their role in public service.
From May 1998 to December 2000, Grace served as the Chief of Staff to Congressman Jack Kingston of Georgia, a member of the House Appropriations Committee. Before joining Kingston’s staff, she worked with McCaffery Associates, a firm specializing in communications and management consulting.
Norma Scogin, JD, Team Leader, joined Working With Government in 2014 as we launched Forging Our Future. A graduate of Baylor University and The University of Texas School of Law, Norma has worked as a lawyer in private practice, an Assistant Attorney General in Texas, and a trial attorney with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Her work in Texas included successful appellate advocacy in billion dollar cases and the representation of Texas interests before federal agencies and courts. At the FERC she represented the public interest in cases arising during the early stages of utility industry deregulation. In 1997 Norma left the full time practice of law to raise her daughter. Since then she has worked for Sidwell Friends School, first as Coordinator of Neighbor Relations, then in the admissions office. A writer, Norma has written and edited newsletters for the Suzuki Association of the Greater Washington Area and Sidwell Friends Lower School. She has advised various nonprofits on communication techniques and has assisted nonprofits and schools with database management, budgets, fundraising, strategic planning, and planning and executing events. Norma has served on boards and committees of nonprofit organizations, including Spring Knolls Cooperative Nursery School, where she was Treasurer; and Metropolitan Community Church of Austin; and was a founding board member of Cornerstone, an Austin gay and lesbian community organization. She has twice chaired pastoral search committees and has assisted nonprofits in finding appropriate office and building space. She serves as an Ambassador for SisterMentors, an organization devoted to preparing low income girls of color to attend and succeed in college. One of the high points of her life was serving as a volunteer bus captain for the 2013 Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage. Norma’s strengths include communication and organizational skills and a thoughtful approach to problem-solving. She also writes short stories and is working on a novel. Raised in Alabama and Texas, she lives with her family in Washington, DC.

"I have worked closely with the principals of Working with Government, LLC over the last six years in their work for the Faith and Politics Institute. Their creativity and organizational skills permitted the Institute, with a very small staff, to organize some of the best events and programs in which I have ever participated."
