WOMEN OF NOTE, INC., Lake Worth

Our Mission The Women of Note Chorus is an energetic group of women from all ages and walks of life, dedicated to musical excellence through education, practice, local performances, and Sweet Adelines International competition in the four-part a cappella barbershop style. We encourage and promote personal growth and community involvement in an atmosphere of fellowship and harmony. In May 1996, approximately 18 women met with a vision to create a large chorus in our community that would promote excellence in entertainment in the Palm Beaches. In February 1997, the Women of Note Chorus became a reality under the director of Holly St. John! Blending the rich tradition of barbershop harmony with all types of music, the Women of Note Chorus performs a mix of old standards, country, fifties, gospel, patriotic and contemporary selections. Our repertoire is enjoyed by audiences of all ages.  We perform throughout the tri-county area for groups of all sizes, from intimate gatherings to public events. With the retirement of our founding Director, the Women of Note welcomed Mitchell Greenberg as Director in November 2010 and has blossomed under his wonderful leadership! Mitch has been an active barbershopper since 1994, singing in various quartets and choruses. Between his experience competing and coaching in quartets and directing the Palm Beach Coastmen Chorus, he was an excellent candidate to continue the chorus' passion and drive for artistic harmony. Mitch has been a tremendously positive influence for the Women of Note and continues to lead the chorus to musical excellence. We enjoy being an active chorus that performs regularly. Our membership includes homemakers, medical professionals, teachers, business owners, and students, to name a few, who encompass a geographic area from Ft. Lauderdale to Port St. Lucie. Our backgrounds, musical experience, and personalities are diverse, which create an exciting, dynamic environment for learning and performing our special music. to learn more about having the Women of Note perform at your next occasion or event, or to receive membership information. Who are the Women of Note? Check out our video! Cindy was hooked on barbershop from her first Women of Note rehearsal in January 2009! She has performed and sung in many venues previously, including traditional SATB choruses, amateur theatre and opera choruses, but nothing "struck a chord" like barbershop! As Assistant Director, Cindy leads warm-ups and fills in as Director at small ensemble performances.  She also serves as Tenor Section Teacher and sings tenor with Sunsation Quartet. Having had been involved with Sweet Adelines for many years, Libby has had the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of the organization.  With the Royal Palm Chorus, she served as Assistant / Associate Director, as choreographer and as Tenor Section Leader.  Among her most thrilling experiences was singing on the SAI stage 8 times, 3 with quartets and 5 with choruses. Libby has won Regional Competitions with her quartets Madrigals and Gold Coast Goodtime Singers.  One of her best memories was singing counterpoint to Lida Rose with the original Buffalo Bills when they were on Broadway in "The Music Man".  Libby is excited to be part of the Directing Staff under Mitch and is confident that the Women of Note will add to her thrills!! Thank you for your interest in the Women of Note. We hope our website has been helpful in answering your questions about us.
