Mission and Vision Statement Our Mission Women Executive Leadership, Inc. (WEL) advocates, educates and connects accomplished women. WEL’s membership is reflective of executive women across diverse businesses in Florida and its reach is countrywide through its alignment with the 20/20 Women on Boards campaign. With the increased demands facing the traditional pool of board candidates and the higher expectations of board members, companies are expanding their search parameters to include more diverse board talent. WEL can influence the search process by serving as a catalyst to raise awareness of the need to include qualified women into the consideration set for these decision makers when making board decisions. Cindy Kushner founded Women Executive Leadership, Inc. in 1999. Recognizing the need that many companies are committed to gender diversity but find it difficult to identify board-ready and executive female candidates, and recognizing that many of these female candidates do not know how to access these opportunities. Cindy created WEL to bridge that gap. WEL, and its strategic relationship with the 20/20 Women on Boards campaign, is able to help companies identify female candidates and help the candidates connect with the companies, search firms, and executives involved in the searches. Cindy’s philosophy is that it is not about getting more women on boards and in executive positions, it is about getting the right person, and that means getting more women in the selection process. Hence WEL is about raising the visibility of the tremendous female talent pool. Cindy serves on the advisory board of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Florida Chapter and serves on the United Way of Broward County’s governance committee. She is a member of the AICPA, FICPA, and serves on the FICPA Mobility Task Force. She is a former Board of Director of Florida Venture Forum, former VP and Treasurer of Diabetes Research Institute Foundation-Ambassadors and Past Executive member of the State of Israel Bonds Committee. Cindy Kushner is a Partner with Crowe Horwath LLP with more than 20 years of experience in Big 4 accounting firms serving clients in the public and private sector as a trusted tax and business advisor.
