In 2003, Wolford College received its licensure from the State of Florida, the Florida Department of Education, and Commission for Independent Education, as an independent single purpose college.
Wolford College underwent a self-study and on-site review by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) and received its initial accreditation in April 2004. On February 1, 2005, after many years of educating nurse anesthesia students through program affiliations, the first Wolford College class was matriculated.
In July 2007, an important milestone for the Wolford College student body was achieved when the United States Department of Education Secretary determined that Wolford College satisfies the definition of an eligible institution under the Higher Education Act of 1965, to disburse Title IV funds to its students. The news of their decision would provide many students with financial resources to assist them in making their dream of becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) a reality.
After the graduation of the first class, the college underwent a secondary onsite review in October of 2007. The COA completed the final review in May 2008. All standards were met and accreditation was granted. A month later in June 2008, Wolford College moved into its permanent facility at 1336 Creekside Blvd in Naples, Florida.
Wolford College offers a 28 month “front loaded” curriculum leading to a Master’s Degree in Nurse Anesthesia with a full scope of nurse anesthesia practice. Throughout Florida and Georgia, the college strives to maintain clinical and enrichment sites that provide a broad variety of clinical experiences and cases which meet and, in most cases, exceed the requirements of accreditation standards enabling students to successfully pass the National Certification exam. Students participate in all aspects of the anesthesia experience under the collaborative supervision and instruction of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and Anesthesiologists. Students will have an opportunity to enhance their education with the Simulation lab.
In anticipation of meeting the requirements of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) decision to elevate the educational preparation of nurse anesthetists from the master’s level to the doctorate level by 2025, the college began preparing for the future of nurse anesthesia. In 2010, Wolford College received accreditation and licensure to offer a post Master’s Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice. The post Master’s DNAP is a 2 or 3-year online program centered on advanced, integrated knowledge of anesthesia practice, advanced roles, quality assurance, and clinical research. The program will prepare experienced CRNAs to utilize leadership, research, and information technology to promote the highest quality of anesthesia care.
From its inception, the fundamental purpose of the College has been to provide a curriculum that emphasizes safe, patient centered care, interdisciplinary teamwork, evidence based practice, application of quality improvement, and utilization of information technology. Wolford College is committed, and will continue to provide Registered Nurses, from all over the country, a quality educational foundation for lifelong learning in nurse anesthesia.
Wolford College’s Nurse Anesthesia Program has received institutional accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, a recognized U.S. Department of Education agency, however, credit in this program may or may not be transferable to other universities.

This facility will be utilized to integrate the didactic curriculum with correlated hands-on learning during scheduled simulation experiences during semesters 1 – 3. Additionally, clinical checkoffs examinations will be an additional evaluation tool to assess student skill leading up to the clinical stage of the program.
Students can sign in to the Wolford College Portal to view the simulation lab calendar and reserve practice times using an automated scheduling system.
