After ten years of guiding in the Keys I was looking to explore some new and untouched waters. The island of Vieques was my next stop. Guiding in the Caribbean was something I've dreamed about doing for a long time and seeing miles of beaches and flats without a single other boat sold me. I moved there in 2005, married my wife Amanda, and settled in for the next few years. As one of only two fishing guides on the whole island, life was great. I provide all the tackle you'll need for both fly and spin fishing. I use top of the line Sage rods and Tibor reels for fly anglers and Shimano gear for spin fishermen. I hand tie my own flies and since we never know where the next killer tarpon pattern might come from, feel free to bring some of your own creations. but can also meet my anglers at several different locations on or around Pine Island. There are dozens of great waterfront hotels, guesthouses, and rental properties in this area and I'll be happy to help with arrangements for any size group of anglers. Pine Island is an easy forty-five minute drive from the Fort Myers International Airport. Finally, and most importantly, remember that pulling a tarpon out of the water is illegal if they’re over 40 inches in length.  Even with the smaller ones it really shouldn’t be done.  Keep them in the water like you see in the photo on this page and you’ll be doing these fish a big favor.  Our juvenile tarpon can live a very long life, maybe 50 years or more, so fight them hard and release them quickly.  You might just meet them again in a few decades when they’ve put on a couple hundred pounds.
