In 2017, Weston FC was one of the first clubs in the country to be certified as a Development Academy Club for the girls program. The Club is one of the few clubs in the nation to be awarded the highest youth soccer distinction of being name as Development Academy for both the boys and the girls. Weston FC also owns an amateur soccer club that participates in the PDL league, which is a nationwide league. These players range in ages from 19-30, and the roster consists of Weston FC alumni and players from around the country, in addition to foreign players. Weston FC’s premier tournament is the Weston Cup and Showcase which is the largest tournament in Florida and one of the largest in the Southeastern United States. The Weston Cup and Showcase is played over four days during President’s Day weekend and draws close to 700 teams, 10,000 players and 20,000 spectators from around Florida, the US and internationally. In addition to its soccer activities, Weston FC participates in many community activities in order to fulfill its mission as a nonprofit youth organization dedicated to playing a role in creating good citizens. Weston FC participates in the US Soccer Pass Back Program, Breast Cancer Awareness Programs, provides substantial financial aid to those families in need, and works with many local charities to provide services to the community. Weston FC is Involved in Our Community and Around the World Since it was founded back in 1998, Weston FC has had strong ties to the City of Weston, the surrounding communities and even around the world. The Weston FC Board of Directors, Coaches, Staff, Members and players are constantly involved in ways to improved local community related programs by volunteering, guiding and even providing financial support when needed. Weston FC provides financial assistance to the families of players that are unable to coast the expenses associated with Registration due to their limited income or financial hardship. In this cases, the Club has been able to subsidy between 10 to 100 percent of the costs associated with membership. The amount allocated towards this end varies according to budgetary projections. During the past two years $80,000 per years has been awarded in Financial Aid. The U.S. Soccer Development Academy is a program that provides education, resources and support to impact everyday club environments that will develop world-class players. Following a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Development Academy in 2007 to provide education, resources and support to impact everyday club environments that will develop world-class players. The Academy is a partnership between U.S. Soccer and the top youth clubs around the country to provide the best youth players in the U.S. with an everyday environment designed to produce the next generation of world-class National Team players. The Academy’s programming philosophy is based on increased training, less total games and more competitive games. The Academy also connects National Team coaches directly with the Academy clubs to develop and identify players and coaches for future Youth National Teams. Each Academy team is evaluated by a member of the Men’s Scouting Network at least 10 times each year and each Academy club receives two (2) formal evaluations that provide feedback in 100 categories each year from U.S. Soccer Technical Staff. To maintain a focus on training, Academy teams do not play in any other leagues, tournaments, State Cup competitions, ODP or All-Star events without written permission from U.S. Soccer Development Academy staff. Full-time Academy players can only participate on their designated Academy team, with only one exception: National Team duty. Development Academy players for all teams must choose to participate in the Academy full-time and forgo playing for his high school team. Weston FC was honored with the designation as a US Soccer Development Academy and has been a member in good standing since 2009. Several of Weston FC players have been called for National Team Duty or have graduated from the program to play collegiate or professional soccer. Weston FC is currently ranked as one of the top Academy teams in the nation. Its Technical Director, Victor Pastora, was named South 2011 Conference Coach of the Year by the US Soccer Development Academy, in the 2013 – 2014 season, and as head coach, he led our U16 Weston FC academy team to the South east division academy league championship. Formed in 1998 with 100 players, Weston FC has grown into one of the largest and most respected competitive soccer clubs in the nation.
