Wauchula State Bank names J.W. “Jake” Crews, IV as President and Robert E. “Bob” Hanchey as Vice Chairman.

The Crews family establishes a holding company, Crews Banking Corporation, that today includes Wauchula State Bank, First State Bank of Arcadia, Charlotte State Bank & Trust and Englewood Bank & Trust with 26 offices covering 11 counties throughout Central Florida.
Wauchula State Bank rented oxen and buggy for a week in the early 1960s. On the side of the wagon, the slogan reads, "Wauchula State Bank: Pioneers in Banking established in 1929." A real cowboy from Wyoming gave the residents of Wauchula rides around town. In the picture (from left) are banker Bill Crews, the cowboy and his son and Will Emmitt Patton.

Wauchula State Bank has served the Florida Heartland since 1929 as a family-owned, locally managed, community bank. In May 1932, J.W. Crews, Sr. purchased controlling interest in Wauchula State Bank and today the bank is still owned and operated by the Crews Family. Today, Wauchula State Bank is part of a four bank holding company with total assets of more than $1.3 billion. In addition to Wauchula State Bank, Crews Banking Corporation owns Charlotte State Bank & Trust, Englewood Bank & Trust and First State Bank of Arcadia. Each bank has their own president and their decisions are made locally in each of these markets. J.W. “Bill” Crews, Jr. serves as Chairman for both Crews Banking Corporation and Wauchula State Bank, with his grandson, J.W. “Jake” Crews, IV, serving as President of Wauchula State Bank.

Responsible for the development and implementation of product, system/processes and culture training for bank employees. This individual will utilize strong facilitation skills to create dynamic learning environments and successfully communicate content through various learning styles. A strong candidate will have the ability to conceptualize and facilitate various forms of training and communication materials for the organization and have the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects. As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to make a 5- to 8-minute training presentation.
Provides quality service, by telephone, to bank customers. Sells appropriate products, researches and resolves customer requests and answers customer inquiries with regard to account maintenance, balance transfers, stop payments, statement requests, etc. Answers incoming calls for all bank branches. Must have strong communication and organizational skills. High school diploma or its equivalent required. Banking experience preferred.
Reviews all loan packages at pre-closing and post-closing to ensure all requirements are in accordance with Wauchula State Bank's policies and procedures. Reviews title insurance policies, documents loan policy exceptions for missing documents, signatures, corrections required and pending documents. Must have thorough knowledge of all types of loan documentation and loan operation procedures. High school diploma or its equivalent required. Banking experience preferred.
