Walton County Fair, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting agriculture and community engagement in Walton County, Florida. Founded in 1924 as an Agricultural Fair, it has evolved into a vibrant community event that showcases the talents of youth and adults alike in areas such as artwork, handicrafts, crops cultivation, and livestock rearing. The fair is managed by seven board members elected by the membership, along with a Fair Manager. Historically held on Armistice Day, colder weather prompted its relocation to October for better attendance. The fair's initial site was Harbeson Field in DeFuniak Springs and has seen significant developments over the years including an inaugural building project completed in 1956 and an expanded livestock facility added in 2002. Over time, it transitioned from charging admission fees—being the last in Florida to do so—to featuring engaging and exciting new events like baking contests, children's activities, and unique competitions such as the Treasures in a Haystack, 4-Legged Critter Scramble, and Greased Pig Contest. Operated by a sequence of dedicated directors since W. I. Stinson's initial tenure, Randall Infinger has been serving as Fair Manager since 2002. With over fifty county fairs across Florida, Walton County Fair continues to be an integral part of the state's fair circuit from spring through fall every year.
