Ted Davis is a landscape, nature, and travel photographer. A world traveler from an early age, Ted has been studying the art of photography since his introduction to film cameras and the darkroom in the ’90s. Over the past few years, with exhibits in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toyko, and London, Ted has emerged as a leading voice of young photographers all over the globe. Now, with on-location photography workshops, he teaches the tricks of the trade to his clients — helping to grow their own vision through the lens. Since 2013, Ted has been organizing and leading photography workshops; taking friends, family, and associates on fantastic trips to beautiful locations including Hawai’i, the Grand Canyon, Acadia National Park, and throughout northern Italy! Over the past few years, Ted has traveled extensively within the United States, with photo shoots in 28 different states, as well as abroad to Croatia, Italy, France, Germany, England, and Iceland. Vistas Revealed workshops are designed by Ted, to visit locations Ted has photographed personally — sometimes over a dozen times! He knows the lighting intimately at each location and his time spent at the Virginia Military Institute has heightened his eye for detail — ensuring each workshop goes smoothly and participants get the most out of their experience. A sturdy tripod that you can mount your camera on (mounting your camera to capture both horizontal & vertical images would provide additional utility). L-Brackets are a great tool and I will be using them to demonstrate one of my favorite techniques on nearly every workshop. A shutter release is a fantastic piece of gear to bring along. Having a shutter release allows you to fire the shutter without touching the camera, which helps prevent the vibrations and soft images you can get when directly firing the camera itself. Shutter releases come in wireless form as well as cord form, and both work great. Just ensure that any wireless remotes have full batteries and are careful placed away in the same spot after every shoot to avoid losing them!
