Venice Cat Coalition The Venice Cat Coalition (VCC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in Venice, Florida.   VCC was founded in 2006 by Theresa Foley, a feral cat lover who developed expertise in Trap, Neuter, Return programs while helping to trap and sterilize more than 3,000 cats during a nine-year period in the Florida Keys. She activated the VCC after relocating to Venice and seeing a need for a grassroots cat rescue that would focus on the south part of Sarasota County.  Strong partnerships and relationships were forged with numerous businesses and vendors. VCC established non-profit shelter discount programs with companies like Pfizer, Bayer, IDEXX and others. We have partnered with local pet stores and vet offices for adoptions and Petsmart Charities became a valuable partner in their rescue programs for cats.  One of our most important partnerships is with Buddy's Feral Cat Program, which spays or neuters more than 400 cats annually, and has fixed over 13,000 cats during its lifetime.  Buddy's currently operates under the umbrella of VCC's non-profit status. VCC is able to help injured or sick feral cats through Buddy's as well as referring cat caretakers to the Buddy's program for no-cost spay/neuter for their colonies. Grants were awarded from the national ASPCA, PetSmart Charities, the Petco Foundation and Hewlett Packard. Best Friends No More Homeless Pets network also provided financial aid to VCC’s pediatric program. Our Mission:  VCC will remain a small, grass roots cat rescue/non-profit focused on helping local cats and contributing to the reduction of euthanasia in local shelters.  Long term VCC hopes to see Sarasota and Charlotte counties convert to become true "No Kill" communities for cats and dogs.
