Velvet Sun Builders mission is to become the most reputable builder at the beach by using its experience, integrity, passion, resources, and communication skills to help build strong lasting relationships with its customers by providing an unmatched level of customer service while constructing a superior quality project, with an aggressive schedule, at a fair and competitive price. Velvet Sun Builders was founded in 2004 by Edward "Allen" Wright just two years after his first visit to Seagrove Beach while on a family vacation. Like many others that visit the area known as the "Emerald Coast", Allen fell in love with the area and spent most of his time looking at lots and homes, and dreaming of living and developing property along 30-A. After purchasing a lot and having a home built in 2002 in Seagrove Beach, he and his wife Darla soon became "part-time locals", coming down from Atlanta as often as possible. After purchasing his second property in the area in Water Color in 2003, he turned his dream into a reality and started Velvet Sun Builders in spring of 2004. He started and completed his first home on that lot in Water Color and sold it at full price within 3 weeks of listing it in October of 2004. This fueled his desire to expand and build both speculative homes and custom homes. Within a few months, Velvet Sun Builders had several homes under construction simultaneously. Velvet Sun Builders is an approved builder in all of the St. Joe neighborhoods along the Emerald Coast including Water Color, WaterSound, West Beach, The Retreat, Windmark Beach, and WaterSound North as well as other upscale developments such as Seaside and Draper Lake. We are in excellent standing with the St Joe Design Review Board. Our portfolio includes over 16 completed residential and commercial projects and a hard copy can be provided to you upon request. Velvet Sun Builders predominately builds in Water Color and WaterSound, but has also completed projects in Seaside, Seagrove Beach, and West Beach at WaterSound. Through passion, perfection, and quality of service, Velvet Sun Builders is not trying to be the biggest builder in the region, but the best. Allen's customers will attest that he strives to please and they are all very proud of their homes. Allen Wright graduated with a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Southern University in 1984 and has gained over 25 years of vast construction experience throughout his career. Allen has also worked in many areas of construction, including overseas in Germany and India where he supervised $200M industrial projects. After working overseas, he returned to Atlanta and got into commercial construction where he both supervised and managed over 120 commercial projects from Ocala, FL to Glendale, AZ from 1986-1997. His commercial experience includes building banks, gas stations, restaurants, automotive retail, car washes, retail and schools. Allen also successfully started, owned and operated a commercial concrete business in the metro Atlanta area, completing over 1200 commercial projects since 1997, while working for some of the most respected commercial general contractors in the industry. In short, Allen possesses the experience, detail orientation, communication skills, integrity, honesty that he not only brings to his clients but also maintains with his employees to his partnerships, and with his subcontractors and architects. With these qualities, Allen also brings his creative intuition to help improve every project and help his clients receive, "more bang for the buck." Allen and his family moved to Seagrove Beach in 2007 and currently are happy residents of South Walton County. His daughters Allie (18) and Melissa (15) both attend South Walton High School and both play on the girls' soccer team. Allen's wife, Darla, is intimately involved with Velvet Sun Builders, managing the bookkeeping duties and assisting Allen in project management and interior design. Allen and Darla are very involved with several local community organizations and charities, predominately the Children's Volunteer Health Network, and annually support the Cottages for Kids event. They also support the South Walton High School girls' soccer team and cheerleaders and routinely donate to "Caring and Sharing". In addition to the many projects in the Emerald Coast region, Velvet Sun Builders takes pride in community involvement. For this reason exceptional quality, aggressive scheduling, and fair/ competitive pricing is provided on every project. Our expectation level is very high of our team of subcontractors and suppliers, and we strive to build faster than our competition, because we understand the time value of money.
