Phil Bowie joined Nephila as a Partner in April 2014 to direct the firm’s primary insurance origination activities. Phil joined Nephila from Willis Re where he was Executive Vice President and Managing Director, with responsibilities as Head of Regional Business in North America. In this role, he was responsible for growing and managing regional company opportunities across all territories, specializing in complex hurricane and tornado / hail reinsurance products and transactions. Phil held several posts at Willis Re, including Manager of Minneapolis Property and Casualty operations, Production Director for Midwest operations and Regional Manager of the Midwest (including Florida). Phil was appointed Managing Director in 2005 and Executive Vice President in 2004. He is credited with building Willis Re's regional business into a dominant operation in the worldwide reinsurance market. During his career, Phil has had extensive experience in new company formations, portfolio transfers, residual markets, fronting and MGA business, portfolio optimization, business strategy and planning, development of analytics in property, outsource structuring, and advisory services to insurance companies predominantly in the property arena. Prior to joining Willis Re in 1999, Phil was a Vice President and Director of Florida property initiatives at E.W. Blanch, handling complex property transactions, company formations, portfolio transfers and many new business ventures. Phil holds a B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Alison joined Velocity in November of 2015 to lead the Commercial Underwriting team based in Birmingham, AL. Alison joins us from AmWINS and has extensive knowledge and experience in large account property brokerage business. She has also developed new programs for MGA’s, including underwriting guidelines, rates and placement of reinsurance. She graduated from Northwestern University and completed CPCU designation in 2007. Praveen Reddy joined Velocity in June of 2015 to direct technology and operations strategy; innovation and solutions delivery enabling business performance, growth and profitability. Praveen joined Velocity from Aon’s Affinity business. He has held various successful business and technology leadership roles at Aon, Marsh, Majesco and KPMG, where he led organizations win J.D. Power & Associates, Information Week 500, A.M. Best and other prestigious awards in the information technology and insurance industry. Praveen holds a B.S. Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, India and a Masters in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Rod Harden joined Velocity in January of 2016 to direct all claims operations. Rod joined Velocity from Farmers Insurance Company where he was Head of Catastrophe Claims. He began his career in 1993 with Farmers Insurance and has held positions in all facets of claims handling, management and senior leadership. Previously and concurrently to the aforementioned, Rod spent 21 years in the U.S. Army as an Armor Officer. Rod holds a B.A. degree in History/Political Science from Arkansas Tech University. Kristi joined Velocity in January 2017 to lead operations for Commercial Lines. She comes to us from AmWINS Group where she served as Sr. Vice President, Alternative Risk. Her career began with CRC Insurance Services where she enjoyed growing with the company and held several positions that included Controller, Director of Merger and Acquisitions, and ultimately served as CFO. She was also CFO at RT Specialty prior to joining AmWINS. Kristi graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and holds CPA designation.
