The art of Assisted Asanas or Serviced ‘Metta’ Physical Manipulations benefits both the giver and the receiver. The Vedic Conservatory’s courses are captivating, intriguing and enticing as the original ancient Shamans intended. “We hear this art described as Thai, as Chinese, as Vedic, as Tibetan and Japanese…The Vedic Conservatory’s curriculum describes the Art as YOU !” Mukti WHO WE ARE The Vedic Conservatory instructors are devoted healers and servants of this Dharma. The Vedic Conservatory teaches Nuad Borarn, Vedic Thai Bodywork-Assisted Yoga, the noble and divine folk art and medicine of ancient Siam, Thailand. The Vedic Conservatory is a revered teaching association founded by ‘Mukti’ Michael Buck and is dedicated to promoting Vedic/Thai physical and spiritual healing wisdom. Vedic Thai Bodywork - Assisted Yoga is traditionally performed on a large comfortable cotton futon floor mat which gives the receiver both comfort and full-body support. Working on the floor also allows the therapist to move freely around and above the client, making for effective use of the therapist’s bodyweight and mechanics. The therapist can also work with the receiver in a variety of positions, including prone, supine, side-lying, and seated. The Thai-Yoga Therapist doesn’t just use the power of their hands and fingers. They use their hands, their fingers, their palms, arms, knees, and feet, along with the reciever’s body weight and their resistance to provide a deeply moving experience. The Thai-Yoga Therapist enters into a meditative awareness adapting every asana stretch and technique to the client’s exact need, whether soft or strong. There are two schools of thought. In one school of thought, it is taught as a folk art. In two or three days, you would learn a full sequence and be able to go out and offer it at the folk art level. Then there are about 75 to 100 hours of technique and mechanics. That does not include the theory and the philosophy, the breathing, the meditation, the ceremonies and rituals that go on beyond that. There are about 75 to 100 hours of just techniques and mechanics — asanas, rhythmic compressions, and so forth. Yes and no. We want to remember that the Thai people, as with all Southeast Asians, are, in general, of smaller stature. They are very, very effective in getting the job done. They are not just using arm strength. They are using body, spirit, and the transmission of Chi or Prana, or the transmission of thought intention. My DVDs go extensively into this category by addressing meditation and Yoga. To get information on the spiritual, emotional, psychological, and physical benefits of this art, certainly the Vedic Conservatory and I represent this. I’m well known for representing meditative and spiritual aspects of this bodywork. The DVDs will certainly be replete and significant with all the spiritual information needed.
