He met his wife, Joy, in 1995. “Having Joy and our twins, William and Emma, makes me the luckiest guy in the world,” he says. “I truly have an amazing life.” Burns’ desire to make a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities also led him to create a free motivational program for peer support and rehabilitation groups called Life After Spinal Cord Injury.
