UpTown Detailing was founded in June of 2007. At the time, I, Russell Holmes, was a 21 year with a used SUV, a small loan from family, and a desire to start a successful company. I now have a decade-old business, two sons, ages 8 and 11, as well as two stepdaughters aged 8 and 10, and a 6 year old stepson.  My wife, Mickie Holmes, successfully runs our second detailing truck, even though UpTown Detailing was seven years old when we met!  I grew up in Altamonte Springs and now live in Apopka, so many of UpTown's first customers were those that I had known for years before starting.  Social media marketing hadn't come around yet in 2007, but phone book marketing was definitely dead.  I set up a decent website targeting some locally specific SEO and began marketing word of mouth. The phone didn't ring much early on.  I knocked on doors and left business cards with anyone who would take them.  Within six months, I had picked up a steady stream of work, enough to at least fully replace the income I previously made as a bank teller (quite the career shift!). From 2007 until 2011, UpTown grew quite rapidly.  I was acquiring more regular customers and more repeats were filling in spaces.  By 2011 I was running out of space in my calendar to fit any more customers, so growth slowed as a product of that limited time.  I hired a part time detailer, Keith McCown, who would also take my truck out solo for weekend appointments.  Keith helped UpTown grow a bit more in 2012-2014, and the growing list of weekly regulars really stabilized and already full schedule.   I met my wife, Mickie Holmes, in June of 2014 as Keith was leaving UpTown for his next endeavor.  Mickie decided to quit her full time job and jump into UpTown Detailing with the purchase of her own 4x6 trailer to pull behind the GMC Envoy she already owned.  We branded her truck and trailer to match mine, started marketing her number exclusively since my schedule was full, and her second truck launched 2/13/2015.  We had been dating for less than a year at the time Mickie started UpTown #2, but we saw eye to eye on a business level with UpTown and could tell we would be mutually beneficial business partners, outside of our romantic relationship.  Life, both in business and personally, has been an absolute blessing the last few years.  We got engaged in the summer of 2016 and married on Canaveral National Seashore 7/17/17 with our five kids and a small group of family.   The company that we have built up together is here to stay, but will always be growing and improving. We have some customers that date back to my first few months in business, and others who just called us for the first time last week.  We view this business as a pursuit of knowledge and fulfillment, not just a job.  Everything from changing oil on our equipment to petting our customer's dog is part of what we do in running the business.  Any one part of our business wouldn't be complete without the rest of it and we love every day of what we do!  ....And there is 11 years of history in 9 paragraphs.  We are UpTown Detailing LLC, based out of Apopka FL.   UpTown Detailing LLC No need to provide power or water, we bring our own! UpTown Detailing LLC : Many people are accustomed to dealing with giant corporations who offer fully staffed call centers and have friendly secretaries who answer calls but are never the person doing the work. We are not Walmart, Capital One, or Amazon.  UpTown Detailing is not a massive international company! We don't have the business volume to justify staffing a call center with representatives awaiting calls 24/7 and we may not be immediately accessible at a moment's notice. We find that our customers appreciate the fact that they deal with the same detailers by phone, email and in person. If we took the time away from our current detailing to answer every call as it comes in, we would never be able to stay accountable to the tight schedules we set or the appointment times our customers rely on us being timely to. We care about all of our customers, repeat and brand new.  But to keep things running smoothly, we often have to return calls and emails at a later point in the day.  Our calls are answered and/or returned by either Russell or Mickie, the same two detailers who complete all of our detailing work. As such, we are typically on location, detailing for customers during the workweek while maintaining a tight schedule dealing with weather and traffic delays. Sometimes we may have several people to respond to first before we can take new calls in order to keep our bookings on a first-come first-serve basis and be fair to all requests for appointments.  This backlog is exaggerated even more so after periods of inclement weather in which we have had to reschedule already-booked work in addition to new requests.  We are oftentimes unable to personally answer or return calls   Please understand that delays in returning calls or emails are due to UpTown Detailing being a successfully busy and growing business. Our calendars fill rapidly while we do our best to fit everyone in. If we do not answer, please either leave a message with as many specifics as possible or use our detailing inquiry form above.  We will respond to all voice mails and online inquiries as soon as we become available to do so! Repeated calls back-to-back or repeated emails do nothing to alleviate the 8-12 hours per day of detailing that we each do.  We are often able to accommodate appointments with a few days notice, and sometimes are able to fill in times on a next-day basis, but other times we are booked as far as 7-10 days in advance.
