dolls that give girls meaningful play. Although I am not making any more dolls for sale I am working on a project that will allow me to share the concept and encourage the empowerment of girls in a different way. More to come soon! Here you’ll find a dose of reflection on life and empowerment. I find that making things makes me happy and sharing them with others makes me even happier. I seek to share my journey of creating and life in Naples, FL where tiny sticks are often twirled (think needles and crochet hooks). I started making bands for my Fitbit as a result of one simple truth…I am not an athlete. I don’t like working out. Frankly, I’d rather be doing anything else. That said, in recent years I realized that I had to increase my well-being my becoming more physically active. That’s when I fell in love with my Fitbit. First it really made me aware of the sedentary lifestyle I was living through an office job and sewing at night. I was lucky if I had 3500 steps by the end of the day! Way too far from my daily goal of 10,000. Insert red embarrassed face here. Fortunately, seeing this motivated me to increase movement through small changes as I worked to meet my daily step goal. Then other good things started to happen. After I bought my Fitbit, my friend bought one too. Shortly after, we established a club and we were doing regular challenges. I used to be one of those people who spent too much time looking for close parking spaces. You know the kind, waiting minutes with a blinker flashing brightly. I now head straight to the furthest parking spot…and guess what? No one fights me for it! There is always an available spot and believe it or not my mental health thanks me for this small move.
