Our Mission Our mission is to educate children in a holistic manner, serving not just the intellectual but also the social, spiritual, creative and physical needs of every child in our environment. We, as educators, must prepare children for life (not just the classroom) and help them develop universal core values that will lead them to a successful, fulfilling personal and professional life. Turtle River Montessori was established in the fall of 1994 by five families who were in search of a Montessori school that followed the philosophy laid down by Dr. Maria Montessori in its entirety. Their dream of providing a true Montessori environment led them to sow a seed in the form of a home school group of 6 elementary age children. This was followed by its formal inception in 1995 in a larger building that housed a pre-primary program as well. Turtle River Montessori’s small classrooms have a student/teacher ratio of no higher than 10 to 1, ensuring that students get individualized attention. We also integrate a focus on community and environmental awareness into our courses. Our custom approach treats your child as the unique person that they are. Rather than drilling memorization of concepts that are quickly forgotten after the lesson is open, we provide an open and supportive environment where children can learn the way that suits them best, at their own pace. In addition to their college degrees, all of our teachers have completed a comprehensive Montessori accreditation process. Our teachers are committed to the education and care of our Turtle River Montessori family and many have children of their own attending our school.
