. I wrote the book to give other women hope and to help them explain the cancer to their young children.
I am a Floridian, growing up in South Florida. I had a good childhood, but I did have some struggles. These struggles helped to shape the person I am today and gave me strength to fight the biggest fight of my life, cancer. In this blog, you will learn about my cancer and my journey. I will discuss what worked for me and what did not work for me. I will also talk about my life today after the cancer. My life has changed dramatically in the last three years. There have been many highs and lows, like a rollercoaster. But I would not change a thing!
I met my husband in law school over sixteen years ago. I have been practicing law for over fourteen years, specializing in family law. I am board certified in marital and family law by the Florida Bar and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator. I have received numerous awards and distinctions. However, these things no longer bring me joy or happiness or satisfaction. Practicing in family law brings its own set of problems and challenges. I see good people at their worst. Most people are not overly excited to get divorced, even if it is their own decision or doing. As a family law attorney, I deal with the two most emotional issues a person can encounter (1) money and (2) time with their children. It became very stressful for me and emotional. As much as I tried to leave the problems at the office, they followed me home. I told my husband when I first started practicing law that 10 years from that day I would make a change because I knew I would get burnt out from the practice. I was right! In my 10
