We put our experience working in-house and in business sectors to use, providing a business and client-first approach. Here’s a little more about us. Carl K Turk is the Managing Attorney of the Firm. His primary area of practice is intellectual property rights with a focus on high-technology, electronics, telecommunications, and mechanical and medical devices representing clients in the hardware, software, telecommunications, sensor, power systems, Internet, semiconductor, video, audio, medical, computer peripheral, and fabrication technology areas, mechanical devices, and material-based manufacturing technologies. Before practicing law, Carl was Senior EMC Engineer at Intermec Technologies Corporation where he was in charge of the company’s EMC compliance, setting up test labs, test procedures, design procedures, educating design and test engineers. Mr. Turk has participated in government (e.g. FCC) as well as private industry group standardization and regulatory rulemaking processes in the US as well as other countries (Japan, China, EU, Brazil, etc.) He has a comprehensive knowledge of designing, testing and manufacturing of electronic circuits such as wire and wireless network products. Mr. Turk is fluent in multiple computer languages and has a working knowledge of multiple foreign languages (German, Turkish, and French). He is also an inventor with two issued patents and six additional patents pending. Lauren Sherwood is a Sr. Patent Agent of the firm with patent drafting and prosecution experience in the areas of computing technologies, networks, communications, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, materials science, chemical simulation and modeling, nanotechnology, and medical devices. Registered to practice before the USPTO, Lauren also advises clients on invention disclosure matters and trademark prosecution. Nidhi Bansal is a Patent Practitioner of the firm with patent preparing and prosecution experience in the areas of computing technologies, networks, electronics, telecommunications, nanotechnology and mechanical devices. Ms. Bansal received her Master of Science in “Electronics & Communication Engineering” in 2005 from Thapar University, India. She is also registered as Indian Patent Agent since 2007. Before joining the firm, she worked in patent law firms for seven years, where she was assisting clients with prior art research, patent preparation & prosecution, patentability and freedom to operate analysis. She specializes in areas related to analog electronics, antenna, computer applied technologies, software engineering, sensors, memory and controls, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mobile & communication systems, semiconductor technologies, transmission circuitry and telecommunications. Zachary Messick is a Scientific Advisor of the firm with experience in the areas of computing technologies, networks, electronics, telecommunications, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and medical devices. Mr. Messick received his Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering in 2015 from Clemson University. Irena Morski is the firm’s senior paralegal. She is responsible for preparing and filing US and international patent applications and responses to USPTO Office communications under the direction of patent attorneys and patent agents. Sharelle is a new addition to the staff here at Turk IP Law, as a Paralegal. Her responsibilities include preparing and filing US and International patent applications and responses to United States Patent and Trademark Office communications under the direction of patent attorneys and patent agents. After attending College of Charleston, she began working with the Pflug Law Firm, a local real estate firm, where she gained her paralegal experience. Additionally, Sharelle has a passion for serving the community and in her free time enjoys volunteering with various Non-Profit organizations in the Charleston, South Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina community. Orhan Bilalli is Turk IP Law’s docketing clerk. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from Skopje University and speaks fluent Albanian, Macedonian, and English. He has been with the firm since 2016.
