Tulocay Farm
Tulocay Farm has been in operation for over 25 years. We pride ourselves with creating true horsemen and women in a safe and structured environment while having fun and encouraging sportsmanship. Our students and horses have received numerous awards from WEF Circuit Champion and Reserve Circuit Champion and ribbons to PBCHA year end Medal Champions, Overall Horse and division Champions. Our students have competed successfully at the S.E. medal finals and have continued on to win IHSA Championships, competing in college clubs. Many have continued on into equestrian careers establishing their own training facility or pursuing opportunities in other states.
Peggy Thorndyke began riding at a very young age on her grandfather's farm and started formal lessons in the 3rd grade riding ponies at a large breeding farm. Her interest and knowledge in the equestrian field grew through high school and lead to pursuing her degree at college. She received her B.S. in Equestrian Science from William Woods University in 1979. Peggy created Tulocay Farm in 1990 here in South Florida where she has since been training, showing, and hunting. She is a USHJA certified trainer.
She founded her business on safety, fun, and those interested in pursuing a riding relationship with horses. Her students and horses have received numerous awards and accomplishments from ribbons in Hunter paces, to local schooling shows, and the Winter Equestrian Festival. They have gone on to compete on Collegiate IHSA teams and won at the National level and continued to begin their own equestrian businesses. Others have gone on to become professionals and continued riding for pleasure and competing on their own horses. She believes in true horsemanship-handling, grooming and understanding the horse not just the ability to ride.
Julie Karsmarski (or Jules as we like to call her) joined Tulocay Farm in 2004 and began riding in her early teenage years in Haverhill, MA at Cornerstone Farm. She developed her passion for learning the discipline of the hunters throughout high school and college. She relocated to south Florida in 1997 and graduated from Lynn University in 1999 with a bachelors degree in Liberal Arts. After graduating she was given the opportunity to manage a private farm in Boca Raton which opened the doors to her teaching career.
Since becoming a part of the Tulocay Farm team she has had students show at the Winter Equestrian Festival as well as the Palm Beach County Horseman's Association. Julie is currently working with students that range from beginner to intermediate level and she looks forward to participating in the upcoming horse show seasons.
Here at Tulocay Farm we follow safety first and then create a riding program customized to your goals, level, and interest ensuring fun, progress, and growth. We offer experienced school masters to create a true learning partnership.
Tulocay Farm is a full service boarding stable located in Barn 3, SE Corner at Sunshine Meadows Equestrian Village. The barn is made of CBS construction and the stalls are approximately 12 x 12.
