We provide quilts and pillowcases for the patients at Hospice in Gainesville. Hospice care is provided to individuals with a life limiting illness as well as support to their loved ones.  Making and giving these quilts may seem like such a small act of love, but it has proven to be very meaningful. Another way Tree City Quilters Guild gives back is making many quilts and pillowcases for Camp Blanding.  Each quilt is made to honor those who have been wounded or killed while serving in the armed forces.  We stitch love, gratitude, prayers, and a bit of ourselves into each quilt we make for our wounded and lost warriors families.  At one of our sewing retreats at Camp Blanding, we were moved as we witnessed two children and their mother receive quilts.  From the beginning, Tree City Quilters Guild has wanted to send a message of love to those who seek shelter from an abuser.  Women with these kinds of critical needs can find a safe place upon entering the Peaceful Paths shelter.  Tree City Quilters Guild has made many tote bags for the children filled with a quilt, pillowcase, coloring book, crayons, a reading book, and a stuffed toy.  The Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida provides families the opportunity to stay together while their sick children get treatment.  Each family is provided a private room and all the comforts of home.  We have made and given many bright cheery pillowcases, quilts, stuffed animals and dolls for these children with hope that it makes the hospital stay just a little bit easier. Tree City Quilters made over 200 placemats which were delivered with meals on Christmas Day 2014 to Meals-on-Wheels clients.  We also give to the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank and have donated quilts and pillowcases to Catholic Charities.  Recently, many pillowcases were given to the Baptist Children’s Home.   While Fisher House was being built in Gainesville, Tree City Quilters Guild gave a monetary donation and quilts for the veterans. I cannot believe we are one year away from our 2019  making the quilts sparkle and everyone who showcased
