Trail Animal Hospital offers the Miami pet community veterinary services such as medical, surgical, dental and wellness veterinary care. With an in-house pharmacy, digital radiography, and access to specialists, our facility offers one stop for your pet's health and medical care. Dr. Lista earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in 2000 and her B.S. from the University of Miami in1996. Dr. Lista was selected by the Dean of the University of Florida as one of two practicing veterinarians in the state of Florida to serve on the College of Veterinary Medicine Admissions Committee. She is a former president of the South Florida Veterinary Medical Association (SFVMA). She currently sits on the board of directors of the SFVMA and the South Florida Veterinary Foundation (SFVF). Dr. Lista has lobbied in Tallahassee and locally in support of the advancement of animal rights as well as the veterinary profession. She currently heads the legislative task force of the SFVMA. Dr. Lista has a strong commitment to our community. Her community service includes work with the Junior League of Miami, the Cat Network, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Humane Society and Miami Dade County Animal Services. She volunteers her time to help local rescue groups reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter surgeries. With the help of her wonderful staff, Trail Animal Hospital performs over 100 sterilization procedures for local groups every year. Dr. Lista participates in career days for local elementary schools including Epiphany and Sunset Elementary. She has lectured at the University of Miami and Florida International University regarding veterinary medicine and is a mentor for local college students attempting to gain admissions to veterinary school. Dr. Guevara-Nieveen stepped into the field of veterinary medicine at the age of 16 when she underwent a medical externship program in veterinary medicine in high school. She went on to graduate from theUniversity of Miami with a bachelor’s in Biology and a minor in mathematics. While at UM, she helped start the first pre-vet society alongside other students. While here, she was also part of the Alpha Epsilon Delta (Honors Medical Society) and the Marine Mammal Stranding Team. She later went on to pursue her degree in veterinary medicine at University of Florida and proudly graduated as a veterinarian in 2008. Since her graduation, Dr. Guevara has had experience with general practice, emergency and specialty hospitals, and corporate settings. She enjoys all aspects of medicine with a predilection for endocrinology, soft tissue surgery, and client education. Her family consists of a wonderful husband, a curious and sweet 4-year old daughter, a brand new baby girl, and an ever-supportive mother. She recently had her 16 year-old Labrador Natasha cross the rainbow bridge. After attending the University of Florida, Dr. C. Perry Smith received his DVM from Auburn University in 1964. Following graduation, he was drafted by the U.S. Army where he served as Veterinarian and Captain. He bought Trail Animal Hospital in 1968 from Dr. Stoddard and owned Trail Animal Hospital until 2008, when he retired from full-time veterinary work, after 40 years of veterinary service to our community. Now, Dr. Smith spends most of his time on his ranch in Immokalee Florida, where he maintains over 500 head of beef cattle. He remains as our senior veterinary consultant, friend and occasional unannounced, yet very welcomed, visitor/ veterinarian at Trail. We took our basset hound Nahla to the vet based on the Google reviews and other reviews. This is by far the best veterinarian in the Miami area. Dr Martais very attentive, knowledgable, and listens to your issues and unlike other vets who just give pills, treats your dog with a whole body approach to help stop any issues. Highly recommend. The quality of service at Trail Animal Hospital is fantastic and their customer service is unparalleled. The doctor and nurses all take a vested interest in the health and well-being of your pet. They all remember your pet and you by name. It's an extremely friendly place where you can be confident that your pet is in amazing hands. We have been dealing with Dr. Lista and her personnel at Trail Animal Hospital for over five years and Dr. Smith before.  We find the doctors and the staff to be outstanding, they are all professional, animal lovers and empathetic to the individual situations facing each little guy/girl.  Our experience has always been  GREAT, we love Dr. Lista and her staff. Dr. Lista and her staff are amazing.  Always friendly and ready to help in any way they can.  They truly care and it shows each and every visit.  Thank you for all you do! Dr. Lista is a great vet, she is very attentive with my pets the times I have taken them there. When one of my dogs injured her leg/paw quite badly, she performed a surgery and did weekly checkups, my dog made a very good recovery (is now walking and running with the leg again) with the treatment provided by Dr. Lista.  The staff is also very friendly and helpful, they also call the following day/s to see how your pet is doing. Since 2010 the wonderful staff at Trail Animal Hospital has been taking care of all my dogs (I have eight).with great respect and professionalism. You can tell they really love the animals they care for.  Always professional and ready to help.
