Trad’s was founded in 1971 when Betty and Lou Trad opened Trad’s Garden Center on San Jose Boulevard. The Garden Center business was a natural fit for Lou Trad, a graduate of the University of Florida’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Betty, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, used her knowledge of the area and love of the local community to help their new business grow. Together, their integrity, expertise, and hard work helped the Garden Center thrive. Trad’s Garden Center quickly gained a solid reputation for providing superior and comprehensive knowledge, winning service, and healthy, beautiful plants. Today, after more than 45 years of local service, Trad’s Garden Center and Pest Control operations continue to provide specialized services necessary for keeping Jacksonville yards, gardens, and homes beautiful and pest-free – services rooted in comprehensive understanding of the area and its plants. The original founders remain a vital and integral part of the business, and the second generation of Trad children are also heavily involved. The old-fashioned principles the business was originally founded on are still practiced by the company today: hard work, honesty, exceptional knowledge, and a commitment to service. Our mission is to use our team’s comprehensive understanding of Northeast Florida’s unique growing environment to nurture healthy plants, care for lawns, and protect homes from pests.
