We are located in Matlacha, (mat-la-shay) a small rustic Southwest Florida fishing village.  We are located in an area where the Calusa Indians made some of the coastal barrier islands their home during the 1500-1700's.  Matlacha is still one of Florida's last, non commercially developed islands along the southwest coast.  Traders Hitching Post is the oldest gallery on Matlacha and Pine Island, serving loyal customers in southwest Florida for more than thirty five (35) years.  Operations actually date back to 1977 in Lee county, first opening our doors in Cape Coral.   Traders has been buying and selling Southwestern Indian Jewelry and Art for more than fourty years (even before locating in Lee county).  Usually once a year (Late September-early October) we depart on an annual buying trip to the southwest, visiting with old friends and new.  In search of the best handcrafted pieces we can find.  Many of our pieces are made and signed by well known Artists.  As well as buying from the artists themselves, we also buy from other credible and well established traders.  We have beautiful handcrafted Traditional Jewelry along with exceptional handmade Contemporary Styles.  We hope you are able to fine something you like while visiting our web site.  If you don't find it in our web pages, it doesn't mean we don't have it.  If your looking for something specific or you can call us at (239) 283-4040 when calling please mention you are calling because of our web site.  We are ready and eager to help you in your search for a fine gift for a loved one or the collectors piece you can't be without.
