Dr. Marie Barnes is a seasoned Organizational Psychologist with a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and nearly 18 years of experience in the field of applied Human Resources. Currently, Dr. Barnes is an adjunct professor with the Department of Psychology at Barry University and the Department of Management and International Business in the College of Business at Florida International University. Dr. Barnes’ most recent practitioner role was as a Senior Organizational Development Consultant with Human Resources at Baptist Health South Florida. In this role, she worked as an internal consultant and strategic business partner driving critical business outcomes for the organization. Dr. Barnes coordinated learning and development activities for leaders at all levels. She also developed surveys and assessment tools to fulfill departmental needs and coached leaders at mid-level management level up to and including executive levels. Dr. Brooke Buckman earned her Ph.D. from Arizona State University and is an Assistant Professor of Management at Florida International University. Her published research has examined the various ways leaders enhance their followers’ levels of engagement, as well as how different types of leader behaviors influence their followers' perceptions of fairness in the face of stressful job demands. In conducting this research, she has worked with a wide variety of organizations and industries, including the U.S. military, numerous automobile and pharmaceutical organizations in Eastern China, a U.S. based insurance company, a debt collection agency, a nation-wide fast-food chain, and a system of hospitals. She often draws upon her own five years of work experience, both as an external auditor at KPMG and as a senior financial analyst at Kraft Foods, both in her research and when teaching and consulting on human resource management. Brian is a licensed insurance agent and Employee Benefits Consultant with experience working as a sales executive and consultant for two Fortune 500 insurance companies. He has experience in working with business owners and HR executives to develop and implement employee benefits packages with a focus on Dental, Disability, Life, Long Term Care, and Voluntary Benefits. Brian is a founder and operator of two successful companies in fashion retail and restaurant franchising. His experience as a business owner provides him with a unique frame of reference to understand the challenges business owners and their managers experience as they grow.
