Our collective management and operational experience includes ownership and operation of services, departments, facilities and related vendor organizations supporting emergency and hospitalist programs. In addition, we have participated in the creation and development of the specialties of emergency medicine and hospitalist medicine. While there has been great success and economic support in the larger hospital arenas, this has not been the case in smaller hospitals despite the intense need. We have developed a model that makes the provision of these services financially feasible in smaller and critical access hospitals, thus promoting better quality of care, encouraging and enabling more hospital admissions, offering a great benefit to staff physicians and their practices and enhancing the hospital's bottomline. Dr. Damus is the former Chief of Emergency Medicine at Mercy Hospital, Miami Florida. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine and is residency and fellowship trained in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Damus has served as the Chief Medical Officer for Sterling Healthcare and PhyAmerica Physician Services, providing leadership and oversight to emergency medicine, hospitalist medicine, radiology and anesthesia hospital-based practices. He has a strong background in management ,direction and education in emergency and hospital settings, and understands the needs of both physicians and clients across the spectrum of medical practice. Currently he is Medical Director for Dresnick Healthcare Advisors, providing consultative support to hospitals, healthcare organizations and wellness programs, Chair of the Medical Advisory Board of BioIQ, a leader in home-access lab testing and wellness program support and President/CMO of Physician Resources of America, a boutique recruiting company specializing in emergency medicine, hospitalist medicine and primary care. A native of upstate New York and graduate of Syracuse University, he is currently a fourteen year resident of Durham,NC. He has 35 years of extensive experience building, purchasing, managing and selling independent businesses. For the past twenty years he has concentrated his efforts in healthcare management, including 10 years as President of a rural hospital. For the past ten years he has been involved in healthcare operations with several national practice management companies, and developed, implemented and managed a national recruiting operation for Sterling Healthcare. Recently he was Senior Vice President of New Business Development for National Emergency Services. Currently he is also Chief Operating Officer of Physician Resources of America, a recruiting organization specializing in emergency medicine, hospitalist medicine and primary care.
