Althia Ellis is the founder and president of Thompson-Ellis Consulting.  She served 14 years in the transit industry managing human service, paratransit, and fixed-route transportation programs for the City of Pembroke Pines and Broward County Transit (BCT).  In 2010, Ellis joined Broward College in Pembroke Pines as an adjunct professor.  She teaches blended courses in Business, including Introduction to Business, Business Writing, Customer Relations for Managers, Applied Organizational Behavior, Management and Leadership, Business and Management Seminar, Managing Cultural Diversity, and Leadership Challenges and Supervision.  In 2005, she was the recipient of the Adult Volunteer Award from the Urban League of Broward County - National Achievers Society, and in 2010, she was given the Minority Woman Entrepreneur Award by the Minority Chamber of Commerce in Miami.  In 2014, she was nominated for the Women of Distinction Award by Soroptimist International of Boca Raton/Deerfield Beach, FL.  Dr. Ellis is a member of the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) and the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC).  She holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University, an education specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University.
