The Exchange National Bank opened in 1923 to protect the worldly possessions of Tampa’s High Society. Shortly after opening, the bank began offering protection for their clients in the afterlife as well. “The Vault of Souls” was created. This paranormal purgatory was constructed in the basement of the bank and became the safe haven for carefully selected individuals. Earlier this year a copy of the original client agreement was unearthed and a loophole was discovered. “If any resident of ‘The Vault of Souls’ remains for 95 years, their spirit will become property of The Exchange National Bank for all eternity.” In order to be released, a group of the living must work together to perform a series of tasks in a limited time period. Four of the longest residents have reached out from beyond to ask for your help. You will be part of a small group who will release one of these tortured souls from the confines below. The Vault of Souls is an interactive theatrical performance throughout three areas. It is offered every Friday and Saturday night in October in The Vault of the Franklin Exchange building in downtown Tampa. In addition to the paranormal basement “Release Room” experience, The Vault of Souls features two nightclub lounges ranging from modern elegance in The Vault and a subdued spiritualist cocktail lounge on the third floor. Carolyn Wilson may be one of the most understated Tampa Bay area businesswomen. In addition to being the President of The Wilson Company, she owns and manages two thoroughbred horse farms. Ms. Wilson has degrees in religious studies and studio art, and was recognized with the Individual Impact Award by Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture & the Arts in 2013 for her commitment to cultural support of public art and artists. For over 30 years, Scott Swenson has been bringing stories to life as a Producer, Director, Writer and Performer. After over 20 years working with SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment, he is now thrilled to be developing new projects like The Vault of Souls. In 1999 Scott had the great opportunity to be part of the team to create Howl-O-Scream for Busch Gardens Tampa, and was also called upon to consult with sister parks, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and SeaWorld San Antonio, on their Howl-O-Scream events. The Vault of Souls is the most ambitious and groundbreaking project he has ever spearheaded.
