Established in 1991 by Bentonne Snay, The Snay Group, Inc. is dedicated to providing the highest quality professional consulting services to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations seeking to increase their revenues through the acquisition of public, private, and community grant awards in addition to other fundraising initiatives. Bentonne established a professional grants business after dedicating 10 years to working with educational dropout prevention initiatives that served at-risk youth in Miami-Dade County. She began serving a small but diverse group of nonprofits who were in need of an experienced, ethical nonprofit executive with excellent research, design, evaluation, and writing skills to help them obtain grant funds. From 1991 to 2002, she raised more than $9 million in grant awards. Our commitment to the following goals has enabled The Snay Group to achieve its reputation as one of South Florida’s premier grant professionals: Work with ethical, efficacious, and mission-driven nonprofit organizations (NPOs) to maximize fundraising Assist NPOs to develop compelling need statements; prepare transparent and informative program budgets; measure impactful outcomes with realistic evaluation methods; and provide timely plans of action to implement evidence-based programs and services Prior to becoming an independent fundraising consultant, Bentonne held several positions including Dean of Students at the Academy for Community Education, an alternative high school designed to provide a preventive approach to students at risk of dropping out. She was founding Executive Director of Communities in Schools of Miami, Inc., a more comprehensive approach to dropout prevention. In 1997, Bentonne was asked to help start a philanthropic initiative for the Burger King system throughout North America. This initial 5 month project became a 5-year commitment for Bentonne, raising more than $15 million, establishing a $4.5 million endowment, and providing nearly 4,000 scholarship awards through what became the Burger King/McLamore Foundation. In 2002, Bentonne left the Foundation and became the CEO of the Humane Society of Greater Miami where she helped develop strategic plans, revitalize a stalled capital campaign, and restructure the organization to be more cost-effective and results-oriented. In 2003, Bentonne re-established The Snay Group and has since served the planning, development, and reporting needs of a variety of NPOs whose operating budgets have ranged from $1 million to $50 million annually. Since 2003, The Snay Group has secured nearly $25 million in grant awards for a total of more than $34 million raised through August 2016. Grants Professional: Dana Snay identifies prospective funders and assists in the development and preparation of award-winning grant proposals. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and English Literature and a Master of Arts in Philosophy from Boston College. Prior to working at The Snay Group, Dana tutored inmates for the GED at Suffolk County Department of Corrections in Boston and taught policy debate to Miami’s low-income high school students. In addition to working for The Snay Group, she is a Guardian ad Litem dedicated to advocating for foster children’s best interests in court. Dana is an excellent writer, researcher, and critical thinker and is especially adept at problem-solving. Dana is passionate about social justice and the application of philosophical concepts to affect positive change.
