“We strive to continuously raise the standards of the professional pet care service and retail industry. We care for our pet guests the way we would like our own pets cared for, and we are super picky pet parents!” In 2008 we sold Tail End to a national pet boarding chain, in order to move to a smaller town. After losing all three of our Greyhounds to cancer, we became committed to find better ways to maintain our pets’ health. In July of 2010, The Green K9 opened in a tiny shop on Main Street in Tavares, FL with a mission to help pet owners find the healthiest products for their pets and the environment, and provide a safe, clean and fun day care facility for dogs to exercise and socialize. The Green K9 grew to 26 day care dogs a day, so it was time to expand. In July 2012 The Green K9 moved to its new 7,200 sq. ft. location in Mount Dora, where boarding and grooming services were added. In 1970, Marni’s parents built and operated a dog boarding kennel in Reisterstown, Maryland. As a child, she spent every day helping in the kennel and playing with the dogs. Marni’s mother was a well known dog trainer and breeder of German Shepherds, so it was no wonder that from age five Marni knew she wanted to work with dogs. The family kennel sold and it became Marni’s life long dream to build her own “pet resort”. After obtaining a B.S. in Health Education, Marni worked in the health care field for managed care companies and workers’ compensation law firms. Going green and providing healthy pet care go hand in hand at The Green K9. We believe that owning a pet is a privilege not a right, and our pets depend on us to keep them healthy, happy, safe and comfortable. We offer the highest quality pet products and foods available and we set the highest standards possible for professional pet care services. The Green K9 is a one stop shop for all your pet care needs. We are very proud of our facility, so please come in for a tour to see what quality pet care is all about.
