THE GLOBAL CORNER, INC.
PENSACOLA, FLORIDA

The Global Corner, Inc., founded in 2007 by Lee Hansen after a distinguished career with the U.S. Navy where she became an Ensign awarded Wings of Gold for her service as a Naval Flight Officer, is a nonprofit organization on a mission to broaden young minds. Its goal? To foster global competitiveness starting right from elementary school. Lee started The Global Corner during her transition from military life into community engagement after retirement. What began in earnest has turned into an enriching program that brings international awareness and education to young students by introducing them to the cultures of various countries each year. This is all done through interactive activities that feel like virtual adventures, making learning engaging and fun. These cultural explorations have included Japan, Spain, Egypt, Brazil, Russia, India, Italy, Kenya, Australia, and China among others, reaching over 57,000 students across Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties with its 'Bring the World to Life – One Child at a Time' initiative. The program employs the enthusiastic help of dedicated educators like Ms. Minish, an experienced teacher in her second year, and new faces such as Ms. Olesky teaching about global traditions, Ms. Kholie sharing insights into Argentine culture, along with Ms. Street and Ms. Thomas who bring students closer to nature through lessons on wildlife. The heart of The Global Corner's operation lies with its board of directors-selfless volunteers all driven by a shared vision. They are led by Charity Hamilton as President, Reid Rushing as Vice President, Karen Evans handling the financials as Treasurer, and Carlee Hoffmann serving as Secretary. Other members include Vanessa Mayes, Donovan Chau, Jo McArthur, Susana Mendoza-Kepner, Beverly Patteson, Kelly Reeser, Julie Olliff Vickery, and Rob Zitzewitz. Their Executive Director is Lee Hansen, with Jeanne Hooper taking on the role of Head Teacher, both contributing in non-voting capacities. Vanessa Mayes' extensive world exposure has seen her become a pivotal figure since her early days at The Global Corner when she first learned about its mission during a trip to Pensacola. Kelly Reeser uses her expertise in Entrepreneurial Development to emphasize the importance of global awareness and diversity, while Dr. Karen Evans leverages her international background to inspire students to embrace cultural variedness. Based in Pensacola, FL, The Global Corner has been operating as a non-profit (DOMNP) since its incorporation on January 9, 2007. They remain active online and manage all their correspondence from P.O. BOX 12785 Pensacola, FL. You can reach them at the phone number (850) 332-6404 for more information. This organization keeps making waves by not only shaping young minds into culturally aware individuals but also contributing to the local economy through its advocacy of crucial skills like critical thinking and cultural acceptance.
