Since our opening in 1987, TFA has continued to grow the academic, fine arts, and athletic programs that have elevated its students to the highest levels of achievement. More importantly, though, as a private school TFA has helped develop its students’ strength of character, leading these young men and women to serve others in their own community and across the globe.
The First Academy boasts a 100% college acceptance rate for its graduating seniors, who have received over $70 million in scholarship offers. TFA students at every grade level consistently score well above the state and national average on standardized tests and, for nearly a decade, more than half of TFA seventh grade students have qualified for the Duke University Talent Identification Program for the academically
accomplished. In 2013, The First Academy Middle School received the Department of Education’s highest honor, becoming a National Blue Ribbon School. In 2009, the Lower School received the same honor.
Students in the visual and performing arts at The First Academy have received the highest possible rankings in theater and band at the district and state level. TFA art students have received awards from such notable entities as the Winter Park Art Festival and Disney’s Festival of the Masters.
The First Academy Royals participate in over 22 interscholastic sports at the varsity, junior varsity, and middle school levels. Our students have won numerous district, regional, and state championships, and have consistently earned individual and team titles over the past two decades.
The First Academy has responded to its dramatic growth with the future in full view. The new Middle School facility opened its doors in 2014, and the building features the newest technologies with an aim of earning an Apple Distinguished School title, as well as a state-of-the-art Black Box Theater.

When my wife and I moved our family to Orlando several years ago, we found a great school in The First Academy.
On the first day of the new school year, I watched with apprehension from a second story window as my middle child walked onto a playground crowded with unfamiliar faces. With a lump in my throat, I watched as he stood alone with his hands in his pockets, obviously filled with uncertainty and nearly paralyzed by fear. What happened next told me much about what makes The First Academy a great school.
Teachers at The First Academy are called the Living Curriculum. Though they come in all different shapes and sizes, have varied backgrounds and experiences, and possess unique personality types, I believe certain identifiable beliefs and qualities set them apart. For example, Living Curriculum teachers are Christ-followers, relationship builders, effective communicators, parent partners, and student advocates.
Besides our exemplary teachers, The First Academy is also blessed with other qualities necessary to be a great school:
