 ABOUT THE DISCO DOLLS The Disco Dolls is located in the Seminole Heights neighborhood of Tampa, FL. There is a salon on one side, and a working fashion and art production studio on the other. Kristine works with a group of independent hairstylists in the salon, and Leigh Anne, Beth, and Kristine collaborate in the fashion and art studio. The boutique features unique, hand crafted pieces created on site, as well as other brands that embody the same sensibilities. Currently stocking Hairstory, AG, Keune, Verb, 18.21, and Uberliss professional haircare products. In the boutique, you can also find, Royal Suzie Jewelry, John Fluevog Shoes, Tipsy Candles, Rita Wall Jewelry, Hunter Brook's, UNCOMMON THRDS, Pergamo Paper Goods, and Angel Face Botanicals. KRISTINE OWNLEY: Kristine began her hairdressing career with Aveda in 2003. She was a member of the first class of the Aveda Institute in Florida. She worked for Level Salon for seven years, as a hair color and styling specialist.  She has continued her education throughout her career, attending Aveda advanced education, as well as classes with Beth Minardi, Ana Karzis, and Nick Arrojo.  Since leaving Level, and starting The Disco Dolls Studio, with her sister Leigh Anne and friend Beth, she has continued to advance her craft and training.  She is knowledgeable in all styles of hair coloring, specializing in highlighting and fashion colors, as well as bridal and event styling.  LEIGH ANNE BALZEKAS: Leigh Anne graduated from the fashion design school at Florida State University in 2003. She continued her fashion education and experience after moving to Chicago post graduation. She freelanced in every part of the industry trying to gain knowledge across her field. Photo shoots, film costuming, fashion line production, art wear shows, and event design and production. Leigh Anne worked for several years costuming for independent films, as well as television. She also worked with several event and fashion startups as a stylist and event planner. She produced fashion shows, art shows, booked talent, and made them look great too. After many years in Chicago, Leigh Anne and her husband decided to make a bold move to Tampa, FL. When she created The Disco Dolls with sister Kristine and friend Beth, it was chance to bring all of their talents together. Leigh Anne has always been passionate about where and how clothes are made and finds many of the practices of the fashion industry unsettling. With The Disco Dolls Designs clothing line she's working to bring her vision to life with the help of her partners. She also does one of a kind commissions for any occasion: weddings, evening wear, costumes, as well as everyday clothing. has been commissioned to paint illustrations for a Veterinary Science manual and has participated in over 30 fine art shows that have placed or earned top awards. Through The Disco Dolls Studio, Beth offers commissioned portrait painting. Beth's passion and romance with color comes together with Leigh Anne and Kristine in the clothing studio blending liquid hues, developing patterns, sewing, and conceptualizing the direction of The Disco Dolls Designs.  MONIKA COXE: Monika is our newest stylist/apprentice, with owner Kristine as her mentor. Originally from South Florida, she moved here to study photography at Ringling College of Art and Design, in Sarasota. Through that experience, she discovered her passion for hair, after all it's what she was meant to do. Monika started her hair career just over the bridge, at the Aveda Institute in St. Petersburg, in 2010, and has been playing with hair ever since. While at Aveda she worked for Lush Cosmetics, learning more about ethical ingredients in beauty products, sourcing, and business management. This path took her back to her Miami roots for a few years where she continued her personal and career development. She found herself back in her second home of St. Petersburg wanting to restart her career in a local and growing business that is The Disco Dolls Studio. Since August, she has been working and refreshing her skills here at Disco Dolls, and is now taking clients in the studio. SIOBHAN SILVA:  With over a decade in the industry, Siobhan is a highly skilled stylist and color specialist. Siobhan graduated from the Aveda Institute St. Petersburg in 2004.  She started her career at Van Michael Salon on South Beach in Miami, where she trained and focused on haircutting and updo styling. Over her 7 years in Miami, she worked various fashion shows including Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and was featured in Allure Magazine as the hair stylist of the month for February 2011. Siobhan then moved to Charleston, SC where she worked downtown at Stella Nova Salon. In Charleston she specialized in updo hair styles for weddings and special events all while continuing her haircutting education and new product knowledge. While living in Charleston Siobhan met her husband and together they moved to Charlotte, NC. At Modern Salon & Spa, Siobhan trained to be a colorist as well as became an educator and mentor for her fellow stylists. After continuing to develop her craft at Modern, Siobhan and a fellow stylist decided to start their own salon project known as Wonderlab Salon. As co-owner, Siobhan was able to learn new product lines, develop business plans, and experiment with new styling, haircutting and color techniques.  In the Fall of 2015, Siobhan and her husband welcomed a beautiful baby boy.  In September 2016, Siobhan and her family’s adventure continues with a move to Tampa, FL and a stylist position at Disco Dolls!
