(2 workshops mandatory for existing Company members) ASPIRING COMPANY MEMBER WORKSHOP For over 20 years, The Dance Academy of Stuart has had the privilege of training thousands of dancers – not only in dance technique but also in mastering life skills such as disciple, time management, poise, perseverance, and teamwork. Every year we are sad to say goodbye to our graduating seniors. Each one of these graduates have a special place in our hearts. Many of them we have seen grow on stage in front of our eyes. We are so proud of all our graduates and wish them the best in their future endeavors! Saying goodbye is always bittersweet but we are so proud of this group of seniors. Many of them have been with the studio since they were 3 and it has been a pleasure and honor watching them grow on stage. Congratulations Class of 2017! We know… At The Dance Academy, we practice a truly integrated approach. With our professional background, we educate your child while instilling the passion of dance in each student. All of these fantastic things are possible because of you, the people in the audience. It is through your generous support and enthusiasm that we continue to grow as a studio and as a performing studio company. The teaching staff has been carefully selected and stands positioned at the hub of your child’s dance education. Alicia Chodera began her training in Chicago, Illinois at the Ellis-Duboulay School of Ballet at the age of 8, studying the Royal Academy and Cecchetti ballet technique on full scholarship. She was awarded a full scholarship to the Boston School of Ballet under the direction of Violette Verdi and E. Virginia Williams, and became a member of the company. She continued on to the School of American Ballet where she received extensive training on scholarship in the Balanchine technique from such masters as Stanley Williams. She danced with the Zurich Ballet, Miami Ballet and the Boston Ballet. Alicia studied academics at Miami Dade Community College in Kinesiology and dance therapy. She is presently directing and teaching at The Dance Academy of Stuart’s three locations. She enjoys choreographing for her young performing company “Stuart City Dancers”. In 2001, Alicia received the Bronze choreography award for her contemporary dance “Jungle Bird”. This is Alicia’s twentieth season as Artistic /Executive Director, choreographer and owner. She looks forward each year in sharing her passion of dance with every student who walks into The Dance Academy of Stuart. Amy began her ballet training at the age of 4 under the instruction of Margaret Bisegli in Westport, Conn. At the age of 10, she was awarded a scholarship with the Ballet Etudes Repertory Co, under the direction of Russell Fratto, Jeanette Lauret (Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo) and James Zynda (American Ballet Theatre). She went on to receive a scholarship to the School of American Ballet in New York City where she studied for 3 years before joining the City Center Joffrey Ballet. Amy also credits her training with Melissa Hayden and Choo San Goh as “just amazing”. Amy serves her thirteenth year as Ballet Mistress with The Dance Academy of Stuart. Lindsay holds a degree in the Arts from Indian River State College. She started dancing at the age of four and has studied under the direction of Sherri Costales of Georgia Academy of Dance, Alicia Chodera of The Dance Academy of Stuart, and Charles Russell, formerly of the Joffrey Ballet. Lindsay was a featured dancer in , Cherokee, NC and has performed extensively around the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches with Preston Contemporary Dance Theatre (PCDT) where she is currently in her eighth year and the rehearsal director. Lindsay lends her choreography talents to many of the local high school theatrical productions and has worked with Shiloh Theatrical Productions for many years both as a Performer and Choreographer. Lindsay also steps into the role of Director for productions like . She “hopes to inspire others to dance through dance, and is passionate about performing and teaching this incredible art form”. This is her thirteenth year teaching at the Dance Academy. Lindsay is also a company dancer with Atlantic East Coast Dance Theatre. She is thrilled to begin her possible third season with AECDT an affiliate with DAS. Lindsay is happily married and the mother of two children. The National Academy of Arts at the University Illinois “imported” Carol to the US to teach ballet and she has taught ballet in south Florida for many years. She loves all performing arts and holds a degree in theatre from Florida State University. Carol is excited to share the artistry, technique, and beauty of “The Royal” with her students. This is Carol’s twelveth season with the Academy. Carol launched a new public speaking coaching and training business: Speaking Blueprint for Powerful, Persuasive Presentations. Susan Horton brings 10 years of experience in ballet instruction to The Dance Academy of Stuart. Her training and professional dance experience include dancing for: Ballet Florida, the Iranian Nivaran Ballet, State Ballet of Augsburg, Germany, the Harkness Ballet Co., and a Trainee at the Joffrey Balley School in New York City. She has attended ballet teacher seminars at Purchase College in NY and received the American Academy Certificate of Excellence. She also received a Dance Teacher Magazine Certificate of Recognition. She currently has taken a strong interest in Flamenco style of dance and will offering Flamenco and ballet classes in Stuart and Palm City. This is Susan’s seventh year with the Dance Academy.
