Our sessions will be a collaborative process where we discover what is holding you back and what is working for you. You will learn how manage stress more effectively and implement new ways of coping. My sessions are very solution oriented and focus on your goals. We will look at what is working, what isn’t working, and come up with new solutions. You are the expert on your life and I will help guide you.
I rely on evidenced based practices to provide you with the best interventions for your current issue.
After each session you attend, I will provide you with 3 resources specifically tailored to you. This will be sent via secure messaging in your client portal.
Every 4 sessions I will provide you with an assessment that is used to review your progress. You will complete the assessment and return it to me digitally or in the session. This well help us evaluate what we are doing wrong and what we are doing right.
I take your confidentiality very seriously. All information shared in session, as well as your attendance, is kept strictly confidential. Not only does federal law protect counseling as a confidential act, but I go well beyond what is required to protect your information. You are always in control of your records and any release of information requires your written permission. If you have any questions at any time about our confidentiality policy, please let me know.

also doesn’t keep your information completely confidential. Your diagnosis may be seen by multiple people at the insurance company and can be shared with other insurance companies- life/disability/future health insurance companies, and the government. Employers may request you release the information to them. Some diagnoses can greatly increase your fees for insurance depending on the severity of the disorder. Also, some insurance companies will require you get a medication evaluation for your particular diagnosis, even if you do not want to take medication or if there is no need for you to take medication.
To provide personalized, unrestricted treatment.
Insurance companies will often limit what your therapist can do to help you. They will tell your therapist how many sessions are appropriate for a given diagnosis, and some may limit which type of therapy is approved. This means someone who has never met you will tell you what you need based on their company policy and financial bottom line. At the Collaborative Counseling Center, our therapists and clients choose what modality and amount of sessions is right for them.

Whitney prides herself in her ability to mirror the client’s preferred therapy style, so it may feel like you’re talking to a friend who is clinically trained. Theoretically, she uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients draw connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Whitney views all her clients through a family and systemic lens and understands that no issues arise in a vacuum. All clients have been impacted by their past experiences and their relationships; this information is used to develop new coping skills for current stressors.
Whitney Hawkins provides real resolutions and concrete strategies to diagnosed individuals and people who love and care for those with addiction and chronic illness. She is action oriented, not just analytical and allows you to be the expert on your own life. Working with Whitney is perfect for the modern American on the go; she is available virtually anywhere in Florida, any time. Whitney hopes that one day most people believe it’s totally normal (even cool!) to have a therapist. Her clients may feel that they are victims of circumstance, but Whitney helps them to reclaim their power by creating healthy routines, self-care and firm boundaries around themselves, so that no matter what is coming their way, they can prevail.
