Mission Mission The Texas A&M Foundation’s mission is to unite generosity and vision to raise and manage major endowed gifts that support the future of Texas A&M University. Randy Cain is vice chair and southwest region managing partner at Ernst & Young in Dallas, where he oversees 12 offices in nine states. He and his wife Jyl are benefactors to Texas A&M, with a gift to Mays Business School to support the accounting program. Cain was also honored with the Mays Distinguished Alumnus Award. He is a past chairman of the 12th Man Foundation, a member of the Dean’s Development Council at Mays Business School and a former member of the Chancellor’s Century Council. Jorge Bermúdez is retired as chief risk officer for Citigroup Inc. after a 34-year career with the company. Following his retirement, he founded Byebrook Group, a small College Station firm dedicated to research and advisory work in the financial services industry. Bermúdez made a gift to the Mays Business School to support scholarships for undergraduate business honors students. He also established the Jorge A. Bermúdez ’73 Family Endowed Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to the dependent child or spouse of a veteran who served in or was killed or disabled in a conflict. Bermúdez is a former chairman of the board of The Association of Former Students. Otway Denny is a partner at the Houston office of Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, a global legal practice that provides business law services. He and his wife Bonnie endowed scholarships supporting the Corps as well as a scholarship in the College of Liberal Arts designated for students who study abroad, complete an internship or participate in a faculty-directed research project. They also supported the MSC renovation and expansion project, Aggie athletics, The Association of Former Students and MSC OPAS. Denny serves on the Liberal Arts Development Council and was the 2012 chairman of The Association of Former Students’ Board of Directors. He was inducted into the Corps Hall of Honor in 2012 and was a Fish Camp namesake in 2008. Kathleen Gibson is President and CEO of Southwestern Medical Foundation, a leading charitable corporation supporting advancement in medical education, medical research and medical care. Gibson has been involved in community activities in Dallas and Texas for many years. She is past chair of the Board of The Association of Former Students at Texas A&M University, and Strategy Chair on the Board of the Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations. She also serves on the Mays Business School Development Council. Gibson and her husband Robert are recognized as endowed Century Club members through the Association of Former Students. She has also made several contributions to support Mays Business School excellence funds through the Texas A&M Foundation. Mr. Hickox, has been a principal in the private equity firm of Heller Hickox & Co. and predecessors since 1991. The partnership was formed to make oil & gas company equity investments and is focused on transactions involving recapitalizations, restructurings, bankruptcy, workouts and special situations. Mr. Hickox received a B.S. in Geology in 1980 and a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering in 1981, both from Texas A&M University, and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Houston in 1985. Mr. Hickox is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Society of Petroleum Engineers and serves on the Engineering Advisory Council for the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, of which he was selected to be a Distinguished Graduate in 2014. For many years he served on the Industry Board of the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University and was recognized in 2011 as a Distinguished Graduate of the Department. Louis "Lou" Paletta is a founding partner and the chief operating officer of Kildare Partners, a private equity organization that targets opportunistic, control investments in commercial real estate-related opportunities. He and his wife Wanda are longtime supporters of Texas A&M. The couple established the Wanda and Louis Paletta, II ’78 Business Honors Scholarship fund to benefit students in the business honors program at Mays Business School. He has previously served on the 12th Man Foundation Board of Trustees. In 2016, Paletta was recognized with an Outstanding Alumni Award from Mays Business School. Mission The Maroon Coats℠ enhance the impact of the Texas A&M Foundation through ambassadorship, stewardship and selfless service. We do this by thanking donors for their gifts and interacting with them at Foundation-sponsored events. We also provide a student perspective during fundraising meetings and host donors or friends of the Foundation on campus visits. Individuals, foundations and corporations contributed $308.2 million to the initiative between Jan. 1, 2007, and Aug. 31, 2011. That same year, Davis established a new student organization—the Maroon Coats—to serve as student ambassadors for the Foundation. Maroon Coats play a key role in helping the Foundation express appreciation to its donors by providing the student voice at Foundation events and writing or phoning donors to express gratitude for their gifts.
