Composer, arranger, trumpeter, and pianist Tex Allen has been an integral part of the world music scene for many years. Originally from Houston, Texas, Tex has spent most of his life in New York City and touring the world, practicing his craft to welcoming audiences and fans. Tex Allen selected his home town of Houston the host city for his current project, "American Folklorical," which has garnered excitement and a buzz at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and in cultural circles. An integrated media project, American Folklorical tells the tale of America and the evolution of diverse cultures merging to create the create the indigenous American musical fabric that is jazz and rhythm and blues. The foundation of American Folklorical is crafted from soulful and vibrant original Tex Allen compositions and the production features rich and telling images from the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and from additional collections; poetry, dance, and musical performance by some of America's greatest talent.
