TED MAINES INTERIORS, INC., WINTER PARK

Ted is a native of the New York City metropolitan area and studied Business Management and Accounting at Rutgers University. Ted developed a lifelong passion for interior design, art, and architecture at a very young age. He has executive management experience in the fields of finance, real estate development, construction, and design. Ted lives in downtown Orlando with his husband Jeffrey and their beautiful Italian Greyhound Donatella. Their hobbies include collecting pop and contemporary art, travel, and hosting dinner parties that promote the art of conversation. Avid champions of their adopted hometown, they are frequent hosts of fundraisers for numerous local and national organizations. Both have been recognized for their community service by being included on the list of Orlando’s “50 Most Powerful People” by Orlando Magazine and the Orlando Sentinel, as well as being named the recipients of AFP’s “Philanthropist of the Year” award in 2016. In 2017, Ted received the Harbor House “Voice of Advocacy” award for his work over the past several years chairing the Paws for Peace Walk raising funds for Harbor House’s animal shelter. Jeff and Ted are extremely proud to be the honorees at The Holocaust Memorial Research and Education Center’s 2018 Dinner of Tribute, strongly supporting the Center’s goal of achieving “A World Without Hate.” Ted is a featured contributor to the Orlando Sentinel’s editorial collective “The Central Florida 100.” Julie is a Midwesterner who made Orlando her home in 2003. Originally from Michigan, she moved with family to the west coast of Florida eventually going back to school for Interior Design. She graduated from the University of Florida with honors and since then has worked in the high end residential and boutique commercial market. She is a licensed Interior Designer and has worked on several award-winning projects. Her love of design goes back to childhood as she was always observing as well as drawing and sketching and making art. Her personal design sense leans Scandinavian and warm minimalism, attention to detail, craftsmanship and quality are hallmarks of her designs. Travel, reading and meeting other design enthusiasts inspires her to develop creative new ideas. Karen is a native Floridian and moved to Winter Park from her hometown of Jacksonville to advance her design career with Ted Maines Interiors. Karen’s desire to become a designer started at an early age. As the daughter of a General Contractor, she and her father would tour houses being built in her neighborhood while he explained the design and construction process. She initially considered pursuing a career in architecture but her love of interior finishes changed her path. A graduate of Florida State College in Jacksonville, Karen honed her design skills at a firm in Jacksonville Beach before relocating to Winter Park. Karen and her husband live in Colonial Town with their two cats, Eddie and Olive. They enjoy cooking and experimenting with different recipes as well as creating delicious craft cocktails. In addition to being a talented designer, Karen is also fluent in American Sign Language.
