TEAK Coaching , specializing in organizational transformation and career coaching. She was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, spent 20 years in Northwestern Pennsylvania, and relocated to Southwest Florida in 2002. With a background that includes business management, nonprofit management, education, finance, philanthropy, ethics, governance, board performance, and transition management, Dr. East is able to tap into her wide range of diverse career experiences to connect with her clients on multiple levels. Dr. East served as president and CEO of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, an organization with $61 million in assets and more than 330 endowed funds under management. During her seven years with the community foundation, Dr. East led the most comprehensive strategic visioning and implementation process in its 35 year history. For this organizational transformation, Dr. East created and implemented new, sustainable practices, procedures, and processes; increased the use of technology to increase efficiency; put in place a staff restructuring which reduced FTE while increasing productivity; redesigned and relocated the community foundation offices to accommodate future growth, modernize internal processes, and increase overall functionality; and led the community foundation to achieve the coveted accreditation of National Standards from the Council on Foundations. Under Dr. East’s leadership, during a down market and challenging economy, the foundation’s assets increased by 41.5%. Dr. East served as the director of the Center for Leadership and Innovation (CLI) in the Lutgert College of Business at Florida Gulf Coast University. CLI delivered the region’s premier executive education program and provides a focal point for applied consultative research in support of the business community of Southwest Florida. Her responsibilities included overseeing the foreign university business exchange programs, a number of specialized faculty-led research institutes, and the Executive MBA (EMBA) program. As a curriculum developer and professor, Dr. East has international experience, collaborating with Wuerzburg University, Wuerzburg Germany, and Vietnamese National University. As as Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Faculty Consultant for Walden University, she used her extensive skills mentoring DBA faculty and coaching doctoral students working on their dissertations. Currently Dr. East is the Walden University DBA Assistant Program Director, helping manage approximately 3,000 students and 150 faculty members. Dr. East’s areas of specialty include strategic visioning and planning, risk analysis and crisis management, leadership and management development, personal and organizational ethics, organizational stabilization and transition, effective governance and board performance, and productive board/CEO relations. During the past three decades, she has used her expertise to assist numerous for-profit and nonprofit leaders and organizations in achieving their highest potential. Dr. East has written numerous articles and has given a multitude of presentations about the nonprofit sector, philanthropy, ethics, leadership, governance, and organizational best practices. In the early 1990s, Dr. East helped to create and lead two initiatives: a regional leadership development program in Northwestern Pennsylvania, and an organization that provided training in quality principles and management At TEAK Coaching, we've been where you are.
