My beautiful daughter is my inspiration for becoming a speech therapist.  Due to a delay in her developmental milestones and failure to thrive, our pediatrician had concerns regarding her development as early as infancy.  He referred us for a comprehensive evaluation and my daughter began speech, occupational, and physical therapy at 12 months old.  Taking her to therapy 5 days a week was truly exhausting; especially after working a full day as a fifth grade teacher, but I truly believe that the early intervention she received helped her become the extraordinary young lady she is today.   She is a success story due to her strong will and desire to learn, sacrifices made by her dedicated family, and expert knowledge from her therapists.  Teaching Philosophy As a speech therapist, my goal is to pay it forward by helping other families unlock their child's full learning potential.  I feel that every child is capable of learning and I accomplish this by being sensitive to their diverse learning styles. Parent involvement and education is another key to success so you will be an integral part of the therapy process. My first teaching experience began at 11 years old.  I always loved working with children and became a mother's helper to the family next door.    I knew then I wanted to become a teacher when I grew up.  For my undergraduate degree, I earned a Bachelor's of Education from Florida International University.  I worked as a first and fifth grade teacher and after 10 years, I decided to head back to school.  At Florida Atlantic University,  I earned a Master's Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.   After graduation, I returned to the public school setting as a school based SLP for 3 years and provided speech and language therapy after school hours.  My practice quickly grew thanks to parent referrals.
