Around this time I was also interested in watercraft mechanics so I went to school to learn. It was cool but not as interesting as metal work. I worked on jetboats and jetskis for a little while and soon returned to metalwork. I also know I wanted to continue a career in this, so I went to USF to get my bachelors degree in business management. I also studied marketing management. I started to grow in my dads business, Discount Ornamental Iron, and decided that our name did not reflect the type of we were doing. We went from small welding jobs and burglar bars to highly decorative gates and handrails for high end homes. My dad and I agreed to change the name to Vasquez Custom Metals. I have worked along his side for nearly 18 years. I learnde a ton about metalwork, people, family, and myself. Working in his shop is what ultimately defined me and I realized I was just starting. I have accomplished lots working with my dad and now I am ready to learn more. It is time for me to give my son what my dad gave to me. This is where I came from and this is how Tampa Forge started.
