Sylvester, LLC, founded on July 9, 2001, is a comprehensive cancer center located in Ocala, Florida, and operates under the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. As South Florida's only university-based cancer center, Sylvester has become a vital hub for advancing cancer research, treatment, and patient care across the region. The center’s reputation was bolstered by significant contributions like those from the Harcourt M. and Virginia W. Sylvester Foundation and the establishment of the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute in 2003. This latter contribution emphasized Sylvester's dedication to breast cancer through its integrated approach combining research, teaching, and treatment. Strategically positioned at a central medical campus in Miami, Sylvester offers services across various locations including University of Miami Hospital & Clinics, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and Holtz Children’s Hospital, among others. Its seven satellite facilities further extend its reach into Broward and Miami-Dade counties. At Sylvester, the focus lies heavily on translational research, which bridges laboratory discoveries directly to patient care with an aim at enhancing treatment outcomes across more than 15 diseases at different stages.
