In April of 1962, Fran and Dot Swisher purchased a plumbing business from Snyder Brothers Plumbing and moved to E. Lancaster Ave and renamed it F.H. Swisher Plumbing and Heating Co. Fran and one other employee did all the plumbing with Dot in charge of the bookkeeping. Joel, the youngest son joined the business in 1973, after earning his business management degree. In June of 1986 with the business growing and in need of more space, land was purchased on Norwood Road in Downingtown. In 1990, Jeff the oldest son joined the company after retiring from teaching. Fran and Dot retired in 1991 with the two sons becoming partners. The business has grown to 10 fulltime employees with 6 service vans and a fulltime office staff of 3. We are presently licensed and insured in 12 municipalities in the Chester County Area. We are fortunate to have the most dedicated employees to be found anywhere. Some have been with our company over 30 years. We have no turnover of employees and many of our customers have a long time relationship with them and specifically ask for an individual technician to respond to their residence. All our on the road employees are licensed to work in all municipalities where our main plumbing license is held.
