Our mission at Southwest Florida Speech Therapy is to provide professional and personalized speech-language therapy services, for children of all ages, using evidence based practice to achieve the highest potential and optimal functioning for each individual in their environment. Parent and teacher education, support and collaboration are considered vital. We believe parents, caregivers and professionals are an integral part of intervention allowing for gains from the private speech therapy settings to natural communication environments such as home, school, and community. We focus on the needs of each client in an individualized and family centered manner and are committed to delivering superior services in a nurturing and loving manner.
Speech therapy services are provided in a one-on-one therapy setting as well as in some school settings or in peer groups when appropriate. Therapy is preformed where the client and the therapist can bond to create the ideal learning environment. Where the parents and the therapist can communicate about the needs of their child and the progress they are making. We feel consistency in the therapy and in the therapist is of utmost importance.
Our therapists are nationally certified Speech-Language Pathologist with a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). They are also licensed by the state in which we provide services. A Speech-Language Pathology degree requires not only an under graduate degree but a Masters of Science Degree as well.
This specialized field focuses on the treatment of children who need assistance to become functional communicators in their environments. Our therapist holds a Masters Degrees in Speech Language Pathology and she’s certified by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Florida Speech Language and Hearing Association (FLSHA). Individual assessment for children addresses functional communication problems and provides treatment in a family centered environment.
Children begin to learn language very early in life. Speaking, listening, reading, writing, and gestures are all forms of language. As children grow their language skills become increasingly complex. At SWFL Speech Therapy, Inc. we evaluate children using standardized tests. When indicated, a treatment plan is established including family/child goals.
